Pros
Unfortunately I didn’t experience any pros during my time with Venn
Cons
Here is my honest review for a horrendous recruitment company. I used to work in Venn Reading however was practically forced to quit as they decided to close the office and relocate everyone to the London based office. The excuse that which was given is they can’t afford the new terms of the lease anymore. You would think that a company would know this information and would share it with their employees beforehand as traveling from Reading to London isn’t convenient whatsoever and with the additional travel cost (not to mention you are already being HIGHLY underpaid compared to other competitors), you would be making pennies at the end of the month. Not to mention that we was only being told this ONE WEEK prior before all the changes was happening and we was expected to travel to London the following week, no options was given to wfh or any support whatsoever. The shared commission pot is a joke as you would be putting in all the effort and won’t be rewarded accordingly, cold calling is a norm in Venn, all these reviews mentioning about working overtime is fine and expected in this industry but they forget to mention that you are not paid extra for the overtime you put in and you definitely don’t seek the rewards which should come out of overtime, Venn targets graduates and young individuals looking to make their way into recruitment as they like to manipulate and it’s easier to do this to younger individuals than experienced recruiters. The hours on your contract is 8.30-5.30 but realistically they expect you to do 8-6.30, your workload could literally be done on time ready for you to leave at 5.30, but your manager would still expect you to do ridiculous overtime EVERYDAY, if this is not followed then expect to hear about it every single time you have an appraisal with your manager where you are bullied into thinking you are constantly wrong and spoken down to. You are made to feel like a child and don’t expect to use your own initiative as managers like to micro manage and control everything you do. I can go on for hours about how horrible it is to work for Venn and it is all down to managers and higher individuals, which are all buddies that like to gossip about consultants like they are in a school playground and set blanket rules. Even HR and individuals which are meant to protect employees from experiencing such things are all buddies with management so don’t expect any complaints to be resolved (other than making your life even more of a hell). So if you like being underpaid and overworked, spoken down to, micro managed, hearing sexist jokes and all the things that come with working for a BAD company then this is the job for you.
