Pros
Verizon is a large company, with many different areas to take for career paths. Benefits are reasonably good, though variable by division. As a large, stable company, as long as you can remain employed you don't need to worry about whether your paycheck is good.
Cons
There are frequent reorganizations resulting in large scale layoffs. Although in theory, employee retention is merit based, it's much more often political, or in some cases, based on removing higher paid staff in favor of lower performing, lower cost personnel. This is true across all different job titles including sales, operations, procurement, etc.
