Pros

Decent money. Good team members.

Cons

Management care more about making money than the well-being of their staff, which is highlighted by the high turnover of staff. And often making staff come into work when they’re in no fit state to be serving food to customers, or threatening them with disciplinary action if they take sick days. Managers are rude to you and degrade you if you make a mistake, rather than coaching you to help you improve. High working hours, working 53 hours consistently each week, without 11 Horus in between each shift, and if you say you’re not coming in until 11 hours have passed you will get threatened with disciplinary action. Contract says the company must give you 48 hours notice if they have to change your shifts but often they will be changed the night before with the reason consistently being “exceptional circumstances”. The rota also gets published without 48 hours notice of your first shift of the week. Meaning you can’t make plans and have a life for the following week because you don’t know your shifts until the Sunday before. If you request a day off and the manager who writes the rota “loses” your request form, good luck getting it off you’ll hear the excuses of “it’s only a request” and “the rota has been written now so we can’t change it” If the area manager or head office is coming to visit the managers are completely different and actually show some humanity. Until the high level manager leaves again. Overall didn’t enjoy working for Wagamama. It’s a very toxic working environment, I never felt supported by the management above me.

thanks for sharing your feedback. this is disappointing to read as we never want anyone to feel like this. making sure all our people feel looked after and supported by their restaurant team and managers is incredibly important to us. we would like to discuss your comments further if you would be willing to contact peopleservices@wagamama.com with "glassdoor review" in the subject line so we can pick this up

Pros

Corporate setting with systems in place When I first started the company culture was great, everyone loved going into work

Cons

Although systems are in place, things don't work half the time, whether it's IT or equipments. Lackluster communications between all departments, making the day to day in operations more difficult than it should be.
