Pros

Salary & benefit package was good. Problem is, no one in a D.O.N. position stays there long enough to be eligible.

Cons

You are expected to work till you drop. I worked 14 days straight (12-16 hr. each day) and was "on call" and in the facility each weekend. Never more than 1 day a week off (if you were lucky). After working one weekend doing "Sales & Marketing" (not a D.O.N.'s job) I was called at 7P.M. on a Sunday evening by upper management , looking for the report. This couldn't wait until 6:30 A.M. Monday morning, when I usually got into work? Management has no life, and expects everyone else to do likewise. The upper management approach to Administrators & D.O.N.'s & the Management team is to scream & be demeaning to all even as a group, and to micromanage to the highest level. I have NEVER worked for a more horrible company . I have been in Nursing for 40 years and in Administration in both hospitals & Long Term Care for 20 years in 2 different states and have never been treated as badly as this. The residents they admit are not gerontological, but rather the young, alcohol and drug addicted population that other facilities won't accept. It's not fair to the elderly population to have to put up with the multiple behavior issues presented by this group, nor is it fair to the staff who try to juggle the ultimate responsibility for their care. Many evenings they would book 8-9 admissions, then expect everyone to stay and help, without regard for the employees. The ultimate goal was to fill the beds, at all cost. That's what is not said during the marketing process.

Pros

The people who are there every day - nurses, DON, ADONs Adminstrator.

Cons

- Poor salary - ZERO work-life balance - Horrible disrespect by upper management (beyond Administrator level) - No care for patients, they are cash registers to this company - Systematic removal of outstanding senior staff over the past couple of years: They were all fired because the company leaders decided these people were making too much. So, to try and make the bottom line look good, new hires out of college that were willing to work for half the pay now try to pick up the slack, don't have the experience to do it, and ultimately fail, thus exacerbating the problems further. The result has been nothing short of a catastrophe.
