Pros

The two stars is for the managers and volunteers. Shop floor staff are lovely. Poor poor people.

Cons

The whole organisation is toxic. Management are horrible people with no gratitude for either volunteers or shop managers. Prepare to drown in donations and be treated like a nuisance. Bullying culture of constantly demeaning and haranguing shop managers. Once heard a particularly nasty member of management talking about ‘silencing’ past employees. People who run the shops are given minimum wage and expected to do the work of ten people - feel genuinely sorry for them. Shops often full of kickstarters who leave after 2 shifts having seen how awful it is.

Pros

Sometimes great staff members, but only if they hire competent people. Interesting donations from customers - SOMETIMES

Cons

Strict vegan policy and culture. Alientating anyone who doesn't have that ethos personally. Blunt, often entire lack of communication. - expect to be ignored Insane ideas of working enviroment and expectations. Almost all stores reporting a overwhelm of donations, which upper management has acknowledged. And absolutely NO room given from head office to pause donations. No empathy for situation as their personal greed will outweigh you, staff or shop preformances needs. this will cause pain, harm and mental distress. Really a lack of retail experience from the people running above, willing to push shops to be unsafe, dirty and crowded to potentially squeeze a few extra pennies out of it. Mould growth across shop locations. Ive never seen a level like this. Use and pushing shops to use AI generated images which greatly impacts our planet and wildlife. Counter-intutive to the core goal of animal protection of the charity. Shaming staff for speaking up about area managers/head office pushing, unfair loads and toxic language which was impacting staff health. putting store wide emails about not taking 'constructive critism personally' They would blame lower footfall caused by amber storm warnings and conditions on the shops not putting out enough stock/caring enough for example. Utter absence of training in store. No work life balance, having to do unpaid overtime to keep the store in REASONABLE condition

Pros

Kelly the manager is lovely, day to day tasks keep you busy and you can have a laugh while getting tasks done

Cons

Head office or 'Gareth Edwards' the ceo have no regard for their staff unless they are vegan. On numerous occasions Ive heard his try to find excuses to fire people from most of his stores, or if they hand their notice in, putting them on garden leave and referring to them as snowflakes because they realised being abused for minimum wage just isn't worth it. The rescue is inside this man's house, so I highly doubt all money raised is being used the way people are told.
