Pros

Most of the residents were nice. The hours suited me.

Cons

Overworked, underpaid. Lack of training. Dropped in the deep end, left to drown. Massive responsibility for pay rate (earn more working in a supermarket). Endless complaints about FP from residents and contractors. Only allowed to use 'safe contractors' who constantly let you down, who you have to chase and chase, and who overcharge residents. Residents feel ripped off and question/challenge everything.

Unrewarding

Pros

You work to your own schedule with no one standing over you to monitor your work output, If on site flat is included then no commute.

Cons

All work is uninteresting. It is lonely as you cannot be friends with residents. Much, much greater workload than you would imagine - managing property is not easy and Firstport are very bureaucratic so there's always office admin, compliance etc to stay on top of. Sometimes very poor support from head office. Dead end position unless you want the horrific workloads of your line manager. Poor salary with no incentive to work hard - see previous sentence. No bonuses or performance related pay either, so why go the extra mile?
