Pros

As longneck as no one above the ground floor shows up, I work with some great people on a daily basis. We all come together as a team and do the best we can for our families despite FPG putting constant emphasis on making money at the cost of service and happy employees.

Cons

My 30 cent merit increase after 3 years without a raise for starters. What a joke. Due to covid blah blah blah...covid is 4 months. How do you explain away the other 2 years and 8 months. Shareholder money, profit and the what seems like weekly purchasing of funeral homes are the only things that drive this company. I met the COO...the blank look on his face as people described funeral industry details only brightened when he heard numbers. Bob Bukala send emails all the time to tell us about covid, the endless stream of funeral home acquisitions, and other inane dribble that equates to nothing more than ramblings that for some reason the email system won’t let me block. Your more local corporate level devil helpers do absolutely nothing for their employees below them besides shooing you off with a, “I’ll look into that”. These people are completely out of touch with their employees and incredibly more out of touch with their families they bleed dry...oh sorry I misspelled serve. This company is Stonemor all over again...but somehow found a way to treat their employees as numbers even more. They are a true testament of how sad this industry has become.

Clueless about Funeral Business

Pros

My immediate coworkers that have nothing to do with the corporation. They are lovely and we're trying to weather this storm together.

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. Aside from being constantly berated about numbers No regular raises, drastically different wages for folks in the same job regardless of tenure (talk to your coworkers, even at other sites, about your pay folks!) Completely unorganized corporate structure, top heavy, unrealistic demands of site workers, understaffed accounting, IT, fleet, etc managing. It's like they are just trying to Hoover up a bunch of money while running long successful mom and pop businesses they purchased into the ground. Funeral Directers and Admin are vacuuming and scrubbing toilets in their business attire on breaks and lunches because they can't afford a cleaning crew. The reason we do it is bc we care about our business reputation and the families we serve. FPG does not. Too understaffed for most anyone to take a significant vacation (an extra day or two maybe) unless you're management. The last "vacation" I was able to take was almost 2 years ago for a family funeral. It starts out like nothing is going to change much. They let the owners stay on a bit and say they'll keep the culture and respect the area. As soon as they get rid of the owners, everything changes. I'm buying cups for the water cooler for families and other supplies with my own money. They've let our removal vans blow up and not replace them. Our crematorium is falling apart. This is four years in with FPG.

Pros

some good coworkers still here.

Cons

2.5 years later still waiting for our first "yearly raise". Most of my best coworkers have left since foundation partners took over. Their positions are still empty while those of us left struggle to keep up. Forced overtime and no work and life balance. I can't tell is the company is bad or just so disorganized. Bottom line is stay away.

Get paid minimum wage and be exposed to Covid-19 on a daily bases.

Pros

FPG had to give me a raise because Portland increased the minimum wage last month. So I still earn minimum wage, just instead of $12.50 an hour I earn $13.25.

Cons

I’ve been with Foundation Partners since they took over our company 10 months ago. I’ve had no offer of pay raise and there is no shift differential pay incentive for 3rd/graveyard shift workers. We are told we are essential workers but are paid less to pickup and deliver deceased victims of COVID-19, then Amazon drivers do, to not touch dead people on a daily bases.

Pros

Only Pros about this job are the individuals I work with at the Cemetery/Funeral Home. Counselors are great and the caretakers I work with are great.

Cons

No raises, No Bonuses, Little Flexibility, No room for growth or advancement, The only opportunities you have to make any more money than base pay is overtime which they never let us have and if we do we are reprimanded.

Pros

Job schedule was Monday through Friday

Cons

Poor management. If you want to accomplish anything or grow in your career this is not the company for you. They will use and abuse you until you serve them no purpose, then they will blame you for something you had no part in and terminate you. So be prepared to trust no one, not even HR or your manager. Favoritism is everywhere, and that's the only way you'll be kept around or get any kind of a promotion or raise, not based off your performance.

Pros

Corporate is very responsible, they want you to succeed, get trained up, and resolve issues. I had an unfortunate situation with an employee, and there was a pretty bad work environment when I first started. After a year, the rough people were slowly removed and the issues dealt with seriously and handily. Management was very good and reasonable and effective as well. Lots of policies and paperwork associated with this kind of corporation, but that can be a good thing.

Cons

Raises are scarce. There are no regular raises, and only one coworker I knew of got a raise in the time I was there. It's not impossible, but negotiate for good pay at the start. Lots of paperwork, if you aren't into filling out lots of forms in-detail and covering your end of the funeral process, it might not be a good fit for you, but they follow them for legal reasons. Try a family owned where they are more lax with regulations, maybe at your own risk, though i don't mean to bad-mouth such facilities!
