I have been working at GDS Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I joined GDS in October 2018 and have been really impressed with the energy, commitment and professionalism in the company. This is a can-do place where hard-work and achievement is both respected and rewarded. I would recommend GDS as a great place to start and develop a career in business.

    Cons

    None of any significance .

    Advice to Management

Keep growing the business in Bristol.

I have been working at GDS Group (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Everyone is very approachable for advice & training.
    - Good working hours with no pressure to stay longer.
    - Promotions are internal with lots of room to succeed.

    Cons

    - High level of performance expected across the board, not necessarily a con but not for everyone.

    Advice to Management

    - More social events in 2019.

    Pros

Fast paced but great place to work. Lots of opportunities and a really great team.

    Cons

Can be short term focused but this isn't necessarily bad a thing - its about being flexible, agile and willing to adapt

I have been working at GDS Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Any minor pro cannot outweigh the sheer horror of GDS.

    Cons

Cons - that basically describes GDS perfectly.

There are many examples of lies. Multiple members of staff use fake names.

The Chairman regularly tells the sales team that they can earn £400k, as another one of his (fake named) team members did in 2017. I had a direct conversation with the super hero sales guy and he openly admitted to not earning anywhere near that.

Sales training. While pitched as a sales masterclass for the up and coming sales professional, it is really just parlour tricks, straight from the 80’s. The sales techniques used here are completely archaic. It is the worst sort of unethical, fiction based rubbish, tailored to trick people into working with them. You will not improve here as a sales person. You will become the problem.

GDS cannot keep customers, and as a result the business is in decline. With that many negative reviews (all over the web, you don’t need to look far), it is clear they have a big problem.

The chairman is a difficult man. Overtly affable, underneath the patter he is a control freak of the highest order. He is the problem at GDS. Total micromanagement of everything, no trust in his staff, completely unable to accept that the world has moved on from the culture of 80’s publishing house London.

There are senior managers at GDS, but not really. They are just enforcers of the will of the Chairman.

Honesty is not the best policy here. It can limit your career.

    Advice to Management

Now the events business is on the decline, what will GDS morph into next? Who knows, but if you work there just get out.

I have been working at GDS Group full-time

    Pros

I started with GDS in the delegate acquisition team and now have almost been here for 2 years. Managers and Directors at GDS Group have always encouraged me to progress to higher level roles within the business. Fantastic team support and overall great working environment.

    Cons

I don't currently have any constructive criticism to offer, and genuinely feel that "you get out what you put in". I feel that GDS is an environment where highly motivated self-starters are given the best opportunity to flourish, and am hopeful that I am at the start of a long and successful career!

    Advice to Management

Continue to embrace change to stay at the front of the market.

I worked at GDS Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are always good people to work with like in most organisations. Also, the service the company is providing is great with excellent potential and great opportunities...

    Cons

...too bad, these opportunities are wasted by inability to see the full picture and by people who follow some of the worst directions given to them out of fear in a culture of uncertainty. Sales environment through and through with significant fluctuation, rapid and not very well thought out changes, everything is incredibly political and - especially on the sales floor - cutthroat to the point of losing efficiency and lacking common sense. Supporting functions are unimportant, every time they see a shadow, the policy is the same: just pick up the phones and call more people.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like ... well ... people, encourage and empower so they can bring better results if they are capable of doing so, and make the effort to understand how and where technology can propel an otherwise superstar proposition towards being as profitable and helpful in the b2b industry as it would actually be capable of being.

    Pros

Great office environments with organic growth, good working hours and superb people with a wealth of expertise. Bonuses in recognition for exceeding job expectations.

    Cons

Performance reviews need to be more frequent. Although day to day guidance and support is given by leaders and VP these conversations focus on immediate tasks not long-term goals and objectives.

    Advice to Management

Ensure monthly performance reviews take place
