Pros

Wear jeans on Friday, only Pro. Working with participants.

Cons

Micromanagement to the extreme. Database loses Everything and when audited it becomes the Case Manager's fault if a document is missing, although it was uploaded the day before. Management doesn't understand the true nature of LSI and GAIN Assessment scores and what they can do to assist participants. It's all a numbers game, so not to benefit participants. So the cycle continues. Thank God I left.

Pros

Good experience for the resume and it can be rewarding at times because of the clients.

Cons

Geo will never have your back with anything, they are just as corrupt as DOC. They only care about documentation, which they cannot even get straight because it changes like the weather and you're the last person to find out, usually when you are being berated for not doing it right. Upper management is corrupt and misogynistic, sexist, and borderline abusive to their employees. Never in my life have I seen so much turnaround for a company. We literally had people quit within two weeks of starting because they realize how toxic it is to work for these people. We were never fully staffed in the three years that I worked there. They literally were unable to keep employees and they wonder why. Geo group will never care about actually rehabilitating these inmates, or providing quality care. They only care about signatures on sign in sheets. If you're a woman, good luck, because you will be bullied and harassed for quite literally anything you do, even what you wear (including perfume). When you aren't being bullied, you're being accused of inappropriate relationships which is insulting and threatening to your reputation as a counselor. These people have no empathy or regard for the people that they hire. And if you think HR will help you, they won't. HR is for the company, not you. If you are tough as nails and you need the experience, go for it. But in all honesty, get the experience somewhere else where you will be treated with dignity and respect, where you don't fear losing your job every day, and where you don't get PTSD.
