Pros

It's really cool to tell your friends you work at Grailed, even better that Kendall Jenner might pop in from time to time. They raised a lot of money so have all of the resources they need. They also make cool swag, work on really cool brand collabs and are dominating the resale space when it comes to mens high fashion. People work hard, sometimes. They will pay you whatever you ask for.

Cons

Leadership team is extremely immature, main cause -CEO is Extremely irrational and almost dictatorish in his leadership style. This is not an environment where autonomy exists. Progress, decisions and any builds come to a complete halt if CEO doesn't approve but he also has a hard time making any type of strategic decision (it's probably because he's never had any other job, ever, aside from working for himself). This is not a female friendly environment. Women can't have opinions and are not supported- many are let go when they try to bring logic into any conversation. It apparent externally aws well in how little love is put into Heroine (womens site) and how much is put into Grailed (mens site). CTO's personal Grailed account got hacked, which is laughable... There are some really great and smart people that work there but are under utilized because of the leadership style of the CEO. Example- CEO would disappear for a week or more anytime he had to make a big decision (as a CEO, that's literally your main job ....) which paralyzed the business since nothing could get pushed thru without his complete buy in. They also use their fundraising money to go on no expense spared vacays among the bros in the office. People never get any type of objective feedback then get fired randomly without logical or identified cause. They've had a lot of great ideas in terms how to to innovate the product but none have gone into fruition. If you are a man, like rick owens and say yes a lot and vape probably a good fit. If you are looking to grow your career and learn and are not a man, this is not a place that will provide any of that.

Pros

Fair pay and good benefits

Cons

Engineering management acts like their employees are friends or unfit servants. Opportunities are granted exclusively by tenure or friendship -- never considering ability or track record. Intense 'insiders club' culture -- where not being an insider means you are being precisely monitored, by the second, for failure. You will be micromanaged - asked for constant status updates - until you feel sick. Culture rewards incompetency - hard work is actively punished. Expect to be sabotaged, mercilessly, at every single turn. Senior engineers get zero responsibility -- just 'code tickets.' It's absolute utter insanity. I've never experienced such toxicity in a tech culture in my life & I have been in industry for many years at many companies.

First off, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand the importance to and encourage our team to voice their concerns. What you shared is not the experience we would want for anyone on the Grailed team. Please reach out to our Head of People (if you're not a current employee/ don't have their contact info you can reach out to askpeople@grailed.com) as its important that we get to the bottom of these concerns.

Pros

The office, plants, and location; Dogs in office when it was open; Nitro brew oat milk lattes and snacks when office was open

Cons

Egregiously fake reviews for 1) lol. Remember a fairly new recruiter quitting one day randomly, friendly guy and noticeably annoyed, and wouldn’t be surprised if it was because the team engages in questionable bs like that. 2) Laying off a bunch of people with no warning 3) A lot of the mostly fun people who were here are gone, laid off or left. It seems like there were a mix of a-holes (few, but primary ones were in ‘management’ positions so they set the tone) and the chill/fun people, but some of the latter were enablers. I remember the first time chatting with a lead (Karen-esque person), she very much wanted to negate what I said in our convo on something trivial, which was weird. Next interaction, all of her questions were just passive aggressive sizing up / negging. All other convos w coworkers when meeting them were particularly welcoming and friendly, ‘what are you doing this weekend,’ ‘what music are you into.’ Had other experiences w her that I won’t share, but can just say this person was surprisingly bitter from jump lol. 4) Gross, but kind of subtle bro culture as mentioned. I noticed the vibe around the remaining women in somewhat leading roles was not really supportive, but at least being publicly antagonistic wouldn’t fly here. 5) I more recently realized there seemed to be a gossipy culture as well. There’s a phrase ‘intellectualize your hate,’ where you try to rationalize unjustified, negative feelings towards someone by projecting characteristics or similar, making your poor behavior feel justified. I have a feeling that applies to a few folks at Grailed. So overall not a fan, but at least when I was there it was kind of fun. Learned a lot from the people who I ‘reported’ to directly and felt positively towards them during my time there. Really disappointed in people too, but most other workplaces suck more. Hate to rehash bad vibes, but sure this is the helpful/correct thing to do
