My Dream Company!

Pros

- The environment is one of learning, collaboration, transparency, trust and respect. - No hierarchy - I have just as much power to make a decision on behalf of the business as the founders do. - Your professional development and future in the business is whatever you make it. Whilst that might be scary for some, I find it very motivating. - A mixed bunch of people, providing different perspectives on business approaches and the world in general. - A totally transparent and fair pay structure with generous bonus and we're working on a share distribution plan! - As an added bonus, I've grown as a person and made friends for life.

Cons

- Self-management can be hard at first. - Transparency can feel unnatural if you've come from a very corporate world, but it's actually easy. Not sure who should read something? Share it publically and get more useful feedback than you expected! - Constant feedback can be hard if you're hearing constructive messages. I prefer the clear expectations, advice and opportunity for honest conversations. - I can't hide behind "My manager didn't ask me to do that" or "That's not my job" - that's uncomfortable for some.

Aloof management. Yes men. Politics.

Pros

Easygoing, laid back, not much intellectual effort required; flexible work; decent pay; some good people. Good location in the heart of Shoreditch, if one is into the hipster lifestyle.

Cons

Egocentric management whose commitment to culture is hypocritical at best and used as a cover-up for a very political and profit-driven environment. The company survives by hiring yes men and keeping them content with the promise of stability, decent pay and easy work.
