Pros

The commission structure is great if you plan on staying for 5+ years

Cons

I am writing a review for Group Management Services, and I must express my deep dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs within the company. It is evident that many employees, including myself, are facing significant challenges that are impacting our job satisfaction. One of the most pressing issues is the notably low salary structure, which seems to have remained stagnant for far too long. It's disheartening to see that individuals who have dedicated their time and effort to the company for over a year are still earning just $45,000, while new hires fresh out of college are offered a substantially higher base salary of $60,000. The lack of equitable compensation is a cause for concern and raises questions about the fairness and transparency of the company's remuneration policies. Furthermore, recent changes in our compensation structure, such as the reduction in commissions and the discontinuation of company cars, have added a significant financial burden on employees. With the company's contribution of only $345 a month towards car payments and insurance costs reaching approximately $200, this translates to an annual expense increase of nearly $9,000 for employees. These changes significantly impact our financial well-being and work satisfaction. Moreover, promises of flexible work arrangements, such as 'cloud days,' have not been upheld, as we are now required to come into the office every single day. This abrupt shift in the work environment disrupts our work-life balance and goes against the expectations set by the company. It's evident that Group Management Services has undergone rapid growth, but it appears that these changes have come at the expense of employee morale and satisfaction. When seeking salary adjustments, the response is consistently, 'Sell More,' without considering the dedication and experience of long-term employees. In conclusion, the company's recent decisions have left many employees, including myself, feeling undervalued and disillusioned. The discrepancies in compensation, abrupt policy changes, and a lack of recognition for experience make it challenging to maintain a positive attitude about our work. It is my hope that these concerns are addressed promptly to improve the overall work environment and employee satisfaction at Group Management Services.

Unfortunately, the uptick in negative reviews on 10/11 and 10/12 stemmed from disgruntled employees upset about a company-wide change. GMS is confident in our decision to move away from the company car program. We have worked closely with Motus to establish a fair reimbursement program to ensure employees would be adequately compensated for their automobile usage and mileage for business-related travel. Our new arrangement offers employees a monthly stipend as well as business mileage reimbursement. If employees have any questions or concerns about the new program, they are encouraged to reach out to Internal HR to help better understand this new benefit. We understand that change is hard. We are here to help you through this change.

Pros

There are some good leaders still left, but good luck getting their support because they're terrified they will be let go.

Cons

Wholesale removal of all competitive benefits that the company once touted as their dedication to employee well-being. Removal of remote work, removal of company car, removal of compensation opportunities, etc. All with nearly no notice so the employees they have working here have time to plan. The extensive list of negative change is too exhausting to write. All you have to do is see their responses to any negative review to see the type of "leadership" you have operating this business. A once genuinely enjoyable place to work is nothing but a shell of what it (perhaps) once was. Disgustingly absent communication from anyone about the reason for changes, lack of a coherent strategy for change and an abysmal attempt at "communication" from the HR team are just the rotten cream on top of the proverbial garbage pie this company has become, and what's worse is the lack of empathy and respect for the human lives that dedicate their time to this organization. The fact that Mike or anyone else in a decision making position can rest their heads at night is sickening to say the least. In my nearly 30 years of working in this industry, particularly in leadership, this is by far the largest disappointment.

Pros

Great people actually doing the work to run the company.

Cons

I see a lot of other reviews comparing the culture at GMS to that of a frat house and I would have to disagree, the owner is more akin to a high schooler whose parents are out of town for the weekend. Zero professionalism, no tact, and no empathy or compassion for anyone but himself, his bank account and his ego- which has apparently taken a huge hit recently. The way he presents himself at company meetings is at best, disrespectful and immature. His latest unhinged decisions are truly mind blowing. It's apparent that he wants people to quit, the very people who are running his precious company. Perhaps he saw something from the front seat of his Tesla, or his Lexus or maybe it was the Mercedes, that no one else could see as he decided to rip away pretty much all company benefits promised to GMS employees, including the company cars. Whatever the reason was, it wasn't shared with anyone other than maybe his inner circle (clique). Even more disturbing, was his decision to eliminate all remote work unless you are 40 miles from a GMS office. He bragged about the fact that GMS was already setup for remote work at the beginning of Covid, so there is absolutely no reason to have the entire company back in the office 40 hours/week-unless again, it's to boost his own ego. My advice to anyone looking for employment, stay far away from GMS. Toxic is an understatement for the way this company is run. Mike Kahoe cares only about Mike Kahoe.
