--Administration consistently adds more and more expectations without considering that the same amount of nurses are having to do the job.
--No ancillary staff available-patient care techs are always pulled as sitters. No techs to help available for heavy patient load. Then the ones that are there must have some major dirt on someone because they don't do a thing and get away with it. Med surg nurses are expected to work 6:1 patient nurse on days. No transport on weekends--isn't the hospital always open?
--computer charting system nearly as old as the employees. HCA, can you please invest some money into a system that isn't based off of the same setup as the original Oregon Trail and Atari games? Charting is cumbersome and time consuming.
--"Too many chiefs" what is up with having a director, assistant director, clinical coordinator, and charge? None of them serve as resources. Half the time they are in their office doing personal work. 1/2 of the floor staff is comprised of travelers.
---Poor communication among disciplines. Never positive reinforcement. Only something that you did wrong or something else to add to your list to do. Turnover is off the chart!!!
Give it up HCA, you will not obtain Magnet status EVER if you continue to perform this way!
