Horrible Place To Work

Business outlook

Pros

No pros. Avoid at all cost.

Cons

Worst place to work. Leadership is made up mainly of non poc and ill informed people without any serious gardening or cooking expertise. Leadership is white, racist and very clique-y. You will get penalized for standing up for yourself and for speaking out against mistreatment of your colleagues. HG isn’t as committed to making an impact within the East Harlem community as they’d have you believe. It’s all a facade. They only care about increasing their in kind profit to expand their disastrous model. Leadership expects you to hold yourself accountable but NEVER holds themselves accountable. Don’t believe the lies or the hype. Most people who work there are delusional.

Pros

Great potential for change, fun to work with kids, powerful work.

Cons

Some of the staff were generally unfriendly, transphobic, unfocused. The CEO was not transparent about relocating of funds or accountable in their participation in neighborhood gentrification efforts.

Pros

Positive impact within the community, staff are hard working, kind, and intelligent.

Cons

Executive leadership created a culture of misinformation, hostile communication, chaos, and mistrust. This resulted in high turnover rates and ultimately the resignation of the entire leadership team.
