Pros

Some of the projects you get to work on can be interesting Good coffee in the office Knowledgeable colleagues

Cons

Low pay No work-life balance and a culture that promotes overwork and being"on" at all times including evenings, weekends and holidays. People might be friendly but depends on the team and the level of stress in the team Extremely disorganised Poor management

Pros

Flexibility of working from home or in the office. People below senior level staff are nice to work with.

Cons

Overworked and underpaid. I work around 60/70 hours a week and would not recommend anyone to work here for the low salary I'm on. All the senior level staff and above are all delegators and get paid the big bucks while the rest are left to do the work on low salary that doesn't even match market rate. I was recently told there is no sympathy for all the overtime staff do in the team as we should be able to handle the unfair workload by a highly valued senior leader in the business. That is an insult as there is far too much work for everyone I know in the team to handle with zero support. Only way to get work complete is to do the long hours and unpaid overtime and if you don't they bully and scrutinise you. Poor communication. No praise or recognition for hard work. They don't care about the hard working individuals who really contribute and make a difference. You could work every hour under the sun and only people who would get praise are the senior staff who delegate the work to the ones below (and most likely are taking credit for your hard work as they are the faces to the leadership team.) Avoid this company at all costs!

We are sorry to hear about your experience here at ICF. We strive to create an environment where people feel they have balance in their work life. If employees feel those boundaries are not respected or are being broken, we encourage you to discuss prioritization with your manager. Most contracts have defined hours to work, and we wouldn't want to go above and beyond the scope of work unless there is a contract modification. If this approach does not work, please reach out to your HR business partner to further discuss your concerns. --- SS

Pros

This is by far the most dysfunctional company I have ever worked for. Let me start with the positives, individually, some truly talented, forward-thinking individuals should be proud of surviving this company, their work ethic and desire to get the job done are truly exceptional.

Cons

The company undervalues staff on an unprecedented scale, they truly have no idea of how lucky they are, with such a vast array of hard-working dedicated individuals. Finance processes are convoluted and confusing for project managers, the word ‘streamlined’ is constantly used but it is just a corporate buzzword word for ‘we have run out of ideas. Processes and metrics are brought in on a whim, then reshuffled, then changed, then reshuffled. There is a persistent silo mentality despite numerous internal restructures in search of ‘collaboration’. All internal individual career management and employee goals are worthless. Persistent targeting of new markets and growth areas without the necessary expertise or resources is commonplace, leading to huge financial losses and confusion and disarray amongst staff. Issues are brought to the fore, only for them to be ignored or more commonly for them to be rebuffed and as an employee, you are gaslighted into thinking that the unrealistic deadlines and working hours are commonplace and you should be lucky to have a job. Self-preservation is common here, with the blame game and shaming prevalent amongst the senior team. Support staff are the lowest common denominator, no succent leadership or direction is present yet expectations remain unrealistically high. Cliques are formed in the upper echelons of the firm which means career progression and a fair pay rise are unobtainable. A lot of time and effort is pushed into ‘well-being’ but this drive is futile as it is just treating the symptom not the cause, excessive hours, unrealistic deadlines and a lack of resources, lack of benefits, and below-market pay are the contributing factors to poor wellbeing, no matter how many ‘hubs’ we sign up to, how many sessions we go to on address our time management and ‘wellbeing’.

Thank you for taking the time to outline your perspective. As an organization, we value passion, so we encourage you to speak up. Employee input shapes our strategies and helps move us all forward. There are a number of ways you can engage with our leaders—such as all-hands meetings, surveys, manager roundtables, focus groups, and listening sessions. We strongly encourage you to take part in quarterly Impact Conversations, two-way discussions where you and your manager can discuss real-time challenges and opportunities. If this approach does not work, please reach out to your HR business partner to further discuss your concerns. --- SS
