Unstable Management and Poor Working Conditions

Pros

The colleagues are friendly and that is all.

Cons

I worked at this company for less than a year, but even in that short time, I encountered numerous issues, particularly with management. Here are some of the main problems I observed: 1. Poor Facilities: Despite the boss's claims that the company offers excellent facilities, the air conditioning system is often malfunctioning. Although technicians were brought in, the issue was never resolved because the boss deemed the repairs too expensive. As a result, employees frequently work in uncomfortable, hot conditions. Additionally, there is no refrigerator in the pantry, which poses a problem during monthly birthday celebrations when cakes are bought but can't be kept fresh. 2. Lack of Clear Policies: The company claims to have a strong culture, but in reality, everything is dictated by the boss's whims. There are no consistent rules or regulations. For instance, reimbursement for outstation meals and mileage is inconsistent; some employees' claims are accepted, while others are rejected without any explanation. The boss often changes policies based on his mood or personal biases, creating an unfair work environment. Flexibility in work hours also varies arbitrarily; some employees are allowed to work from home or adjust their schedules, while others are not, depending on the boss's preferences. 3. Conceited and Classist Attitude: The boss believes he is always right and expects employees to show gratitude for receiving their salaries on time, as if it is a rare privilege. He often boasts about his past successes, financial status, and debt-free life, trying to position himself as a life mentor. This behavior comes across as condescending and manipulative, and he regularly belittles employees who leave the company, accusing them of being ungrateful. 4. Micromanagement and Intrusion: The boss frequently calls employees to question what they have done throughout the day, sometimes implying they are not working hard enough. This behavior intensifies towards the end of the month when salaries are due, as he looks for reasons to criticize employees. He also uses group chats to send targeted messages, even on weekends, instead of addressing individuals directly, which disrupts everyone's peace. 5. Gossip and Unprofessionalism: Office gossip is rampant, with the boss often participating. He discusses employees' work performance and behavior to other employees, rather than addressing issues directly with the concerned individuals. This creates a toxic work environment where employees feel pitted against each other. 6. False Flexibility: While the company advertises flexible working hours, the reality is inconsistent. Although there are no fixed rules about start and end times, the boss will suddenly criticize certain employees for punctuality issues, again based on his personal preferences or the quality of work produced at that time. 7. Overburdened Employees: Many employees lack the necessary skills and experience, which results in an increased workload for others. When one employee fails to meet expectations, others are asked to cover the work, even if it falls outside their job scope. This leads to frustration and burnout, as the company hires mostly interns and fresh graduates due to budget constraints. The high turnover rate is evident, with most employees having less than two years of tenure (<5 employees worked there more than 2 years). 8. Inadequate Benefits and Allowances: Despite being a subsidiary of a private limited company, there are no clear policies for benefits or allowances. When I joined, medical benefits were promised to be provided soon, but never materialized until I leave. The boss frequently mentions future benefits that never come to fruition, leaving employees without adequate support. Conclusion: This company operates more like a personal fiefdom than a professional workplace. Without established rules and with decisions based solely on the boss's discretion, it fails to provide a stable or fair working environment. I doubt the company will survive another year unless significant changes are made in management. For those who can tolerate unfair treatment and low pay, this might be an acceptable place, but for me, it was not, so I left as soon as possible.

Pros

- You have colleagues to talk to during lunch about the topic of how bad management is

Cons

- No proper workflow until I created one - Boss always praised AI rather than his employees - "Always betul" behavior despite him being wrong - Boss will deny his wrong doings in front of people and will call you personally and suddenly admit he is wrong - Boss hired another General Manager who actually doesn't know much about Creative Production, there was one time she commented on the video why it looked flat, and after telling why (because it is S-LOG) she immediately replied "Saya tahu, saya faham", so why asked at the first place? - - Keep praising his company like the company is doing good, actually, it is not. - The internal team is having trouble (Only IT team is stable) due to lack of manpower who can do a job - Only hiring juniors for manpower (lower salary) and higher Yes Man people for backing him up (high salary) - Never think employees are the main pillar for every business
