I have been working at Innovia Technology full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Working with some of the brightest, inspiring, creative and supportive people around. You will be surrounded by intellectually curious and passionate individuals, who are also very sociable and easy to work with. -Strong team work. Innovia hires not only smart people, but those with good social skills. You should get along with most people. -Great place for breadth learning- Being a multidisciplinary company, you will get to work with people from many different disciplines (life sciences, physics, engineering, design, business and behavioural science). You will be sharing knowledge with this people. Lunch time conversations are very stimulating! -Really interesting projects, and the experience of working with a huge range blue-chip companies. You will be working on two to three projects at any one time (so not suitable for people who like to stay focused on one project at a time). -People-centric company. You really do get a sense that the employees are strongly valued by management. The hiring process is very selective, and once they do hire you they do want to make sure you are happy and keep you. There is a "Culture Committee" for early to mid-career employees to ensure that their voices and concerns are heard by upper management. -Flexible working culture. Options on working hours (within reason), working from home etc. Company is built on trusting their employees to do the work, so are happy for you to do what works for you (again, within reason). -Attitude of growth and self-improvement. As with any company, it has growing pains. However, in the years I've been here, I have seen consistent improvement. Change is slow, but steady. A lot of the issues raised in the older reviews have been directly addressed (e.g., career progression models have now been developed). -Flat hierarchy by philosophy - I wouldn't say this actually is a flat hierarchy (they don't exist), but it is by philosophy in that 1) the early careers employees are valued just as much as late career employees (from the perspective of innovation, you need to have both - fresh thinking + experience) 2) It is very easy to talk to people like the directors. Free lunch - this goes beyond getting good food. This is a fundamental part of Innovia culture. At 12pm all employees go together for a sit-down lunch. The directors make an active effort to sit with different employees all the time to build rapport. A very important part of building a culture that is strongly built on team-working. Sociable - there are a variety of “clubs” in the company, from yoga (offered twice a week in the mornings in the company), to film club, to meditation club, to wine club.

    Cons

-Work is in the front-end of innovation - which is equally a positive (creative work!), but if you want to do things like testing out your ideas and prototyping, you won't be doing much. This is more of an ideas company (atm - things are changing a bit, with some disciplines doing small amounts of primary research e.g.,behavioural science ). -As it's front-end, it may take a years till you see your ideas actually implemented. The positive feedback you get is more happy clients than seeing your ideas realised. -The salary increase system is non-transparent, making a lot of employees scratch their heads about it. -Pay is lower than other consultancies, and general market rates.

I have been working at Innovia Technology full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    – Work for the best companies in almost every industry (P&G, J&J, Medtronic, Bayer, Jaguar Land Rover, Boeing, PepsiCo etc.). – Exceptionally bright colleagues who care about their work and each other! – Work is delivered to clients at the highest levels and across a range of business functions (Innovation, R&D, Marketing, Strategy, Manufacturing, Insights). – Sensible and sustainable approach to growth - putting plans in place to grow at a pace that allows current employees to take on new opportunities. We could grow faster, but the board decided that the supportive and friendly culture is too important to sacrifice. – Very little hierarchy – you work with people at all levels of experience and learn a lot quickly.

    Cons

    – Given the quality of clients and work, we should be better known. – If you are desperate to work across multiple offices, then try somewhere else – Innovia only has one office in Cambridge UK, which is a conscious decision to maintain our culture. – If you are only interested in a MBB name on your CV and then move into PE or IBD then go elsewhere. If you want to work on the toughest problems for the best clients in the world, then apply.

I have been working at Innovia Technology full-time

    Pros

The main idea behind the company is that smart people with very different backgrounds and ways of thinking can actually solve problems better if they work together. This actually works! Retention is high and employees are very supportive of each other.

    Cons

Until recently, career progression paths internally haven't been very clear to younger consultants. The company is going through some growing pains - maybe this is inevitable as it approaches 100 employees.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Innovia Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the most intelligent people you will meet. Great thinkers - but hard to get your voice heard if you're not a director at the top. If you want to surround yourself with intelligent and a Cambridge-esque environment, then go here. If you don't like elitism, then keep looking. Fun projects. Definitely good to impress friends during cocktail hour.

    Cons

Horrible senior management. Very top heavy company. Limited career growth and skills development. Don't go here for your first job. Gain industry experience at an actual company or at the top consultancies first and then come here later to get paid a nice salary and have a comfy position.
