Unfortunately the pros are ruined by very poor management. New hires are often given roles that do not match the advertised roles. People hired as managers given no oversight into their projects. Instead everything is handled by two people, one of whom has never been on site, doing no more than visiting for a week once every 4-6 months, in over three years. This creates a disconnect between expectations and reality. Health and safety is ignored. Staf have had to work in labs with toxic chemicals venting through fumehoods that do not have appropriate filters. When staff reported having headaches when working on premises they are derided or fall out of favour with senior leadership. Constant micromanagement by people three levels above you in the hierarchy. One of the C-suite execs demands all staff provide daily updates on their work and frequently combs through it to scrutinise. If the scientific reality of projects to not match management's aspirations you are argued with. Unfortunately, you cannot argue with data. This bogs down r&d as projects are repeated numerous times without any scientific basis or merit.
