Pros
Made a lot of long-term friends with coworkers, enjoyed the patients I came into contact with. Pay was better than anything I have made since I left.
Cons
Management is "untouchable". You can not suggest anything, dispute anything they say, try to make things easier for everybody. They will waste your time moving vehicles across the state instead of using the card you went to school for. Dispatch is also "untouchable" Their word is SOLID. You have literal people taken from the streets of Greenville trying to dispatch medical professionals to areas they have never been, or heard of before. There is NO room for advancement, and if you are an unlucky one to actually advance to a lower management position, you will get treated even worse by upper management and the President, it's just 100% not worth any sort of advancing. The benefits are a joke. I paid over $100 in health insurance for myself per pay period. And that was the lower option!!! You are NOT allowed to pick up overtime, especially if you're a Paramedic. There are exceptions to that, but they are very far and few between. Odds are, you will end up leaving your immediate service area because they do not staff appropriately in all stations, and you will be forced to do runs in areas you are not familiar with. Why should an EMT based in Dayton do a run at a nursing home in Cincinnati??? This company also has no knowledge of the Medicaid system for ambulance transportation. generally, you are not taught the requirements for a patient in order for a run to be processed through medicaid, and in doing so, you become an accessory to a party that will eventualy be found guilty of Medicaid fraud.
