A company in need of help

Pros

In the past, JEB enjoyed a positive reputation as a great workplace, boasting exceptional partition products known for their high quality. Additionally, the company offered sought-after furniture brands that were highly regarded in the market. The company's strong points included their top-notch partition products and a selection of furniture brands that were in high demand. However, recent changes in management have negatively impacted the work environment, leading to a decline in the company's overall appeal as an employer.

Cons

Working for JEB has been a perplexing journey marked by disillusionment and frustration. As an employee, I have witnessed firsthand the chaotic atmosphere created by a leadership team that seems to be perpetually out of control. It is disheartening to admit that the company's actions and policies have consistently failed to nurture a positive work environment or care for its staff, leading to an exodus of experienced professionals. At the heart of the issue lies a profound identity crisis. JEB appears to be constantly striving to become something it is not. The management's overambitious vision, while commendable in theory, is marred by the unnecessary complexity of processes. This convoluted approach only serves to confuse and demoralise the workforce, making it increasingly difficult to achieve the company's goals. One glaring indication of the company's internal unrest is its shocking employee retention rates. Talented and dedicated employees are leaving in droves, a trend that speaks volumes about the disarray within the organisation. While management obsessively focuses on sales figures, they seem oblivious to the core reason behind the declining profitability: the exorbitant pricing of their products. It is bewildering to see how this fundamental issue is consistently overlooked, leading to missed opportunities and dissatisfied customers. Furthermore, the management's disconnected approach to the market exacerbates the problem. While they incessantly push the sales team to outperform competitors and be more active in the market, they rarely step foot on the front lines. This lack of firsthand understanding hampers their ability to make informed decisions and alienates the employees who bear the brunt of their unrealistic expectations. The management's inability to comprehend the ground reality only widens the gap between their vision and the practicalities of implementation. The company's questionable promotion practices have also contributed to its downfall. Instead of recognising and promoting individuals with genuine leadership qualities, promotions seem to happen randomly, undermining the morale of the capable workforce. This misguided approach has led to the unfortunate departure of key personnel, leaving a leadership void that has been filled by individuals lacking the necessary skills and experience. In conclusion, my experience at JEB has been marred by the glaring disconnect between the management's lofty aspirations and the harsh realities faced by its employees. The company's failure to address internal issues, listen to its staff, and acknowledge the true reasons behind its struggles has created a toxic work environment. Unless there is a radical shift in leadership approach, embracing transparency, empathy, and a genuine concern for employees, the future.

Wannabe "cool and dynamic" company

Pros

Excellent coffee machine, free beers and great balcony. Most colleagues super nice. Some weirdos.

Cons

(Western) top management pretends to be super cool, dynamic and going with the times but when it comes down to it, they're just as old school as any local company. Regularly comes up with new "brilliant" company directions which totally lack any depth and execution guidelines. Western managers all think they're superior. Fire staff and lock their computer at the same time - can't even delete personal files. Don't pay for the remaining days of that fired month. Very basic and oldschool IT system. Heard from ex colleagues they wouldn't even allow WFH for most staff during Covid outbreak.
