Pros

None. This whole institution is shrouded in secrecy and cruelty to patients. Caters to skimming every last penny off our devoted active military personnel, Managers are dinosaurs. They don't care about patient care much less employee performance and could not step into a staff nurse position if their life depended on it. Competence is not a consideration. Going with the flow is what is expected, in spite of fraud, patient abuse, JCAH violations and insurance fraud. LVNs do not follow RN leadership. MHWs are allowed to fraternize with vulnerable patients. The entire HR department is arrogant and ignorant, totally not to be trusted. They've been investigated numerous times and will leave any RN out there swinging in the wind. The CEO is invisible and unavailable, Charting is done on paper and rarely completed. Administration is top heavy. Desperately need direct care staff, but pay $200,000 dollars to useless admin positions. I would not work there if I cared about my license or job security. They will mess you over.

Cons

Horribly dangerous place to work. They don't follow best practice. They lie. They cheat the federal government out of millions of dollars every year. They will leave you swinging if an adverse event occurs even if you had nothing to do with it. Patients have managed to slit their wrists and end up going to acute care. Young patients have escaped (yes, escaped, because it is like hell for them once they are admitted) to the pool and not found for over an hour. They are understaffed and hostile towards new employees. You dare not complain because they will make your life hell. I have been a nurse for a very long time and NEVER worked for a worse organization. I worked with a retired AF Lt Col who was mortified by the childish nature of administration and the very poor quality of care that was provided. It is all about insurance authorizations and then the patients are discharged regardless of their level of health, This place DOES NOT care about you or the patients.

Pros

Get real experience with a variety of MH issues.

Cons

You dont get trained, but you are expected to get it all done, on time. There aren't any manuals that you can follow- you find out only when you get audited then their favorite tool is to write people up. No incentives, long hours. Very little supervision offered.

Pros

Steady pay. Truly a learning environment.

Cons

Supervisors with no clue how to manage and who were very lazy. Staff not always friendly to be in a hospital setting.
