Pros

- Dog friendly - A few good people work here - New CEO

Cons

- Leadership is heavily dominant to their employees. - Management sets unrealistic deadlines within involving a developer. - Management thinks developers are insignificant and worthless. - Management is completely two-faced and backstabbing. We are adults, not high school teenagers. - Management is unqualified for an IT solution corporation. - Zero process/workflow and absolutely no organization or structure. - They do not invest in their employees whatsoever. - Cannot integrate simple strategy frameworks. - Lacks essential office supplies such as a supportive chair. - Average salary for a Software Developer is $62,000, Senior Software Developers were getting roughly that. Starting salary is roughly $45,000. - Culture is essential in an IT company, LifeLearn has the most toxic culture I have ever worked in. I regret spending my time, mileage, and skills on LifeLearn.

Thank you for providing your feedback regarding LifeLearn Inc. All observations and recommendations are reviewed which enables LifeLearn to initiate change as we grow. As President and CEO I have addressed the items raised in your review below: Pros • Dog friendly – I agree, it’s great to have dogs at work with us. • A few good people work here – More than a few, we have a great team of close to 70 employees, most of who want to be a part of the change that we are currently working on. • New CEO – Yes, I started in mid-December and I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with such a group of talented employees. Cons • Leadership is heavily dominant to their employees. – While I don’t dispute we have some issues, I don’t believe that it is fair to lump all leadership into one basket. • Management sets unrealistic deadlines without involving a developer • Management is unqualified for an IT solution corporation • Cannot integrate simple strategy frameworks. - We are addressing these three concerns by hiring a VP of Technology who started just over a week ago, and a Software Development Manager who will be starting in a couple of weeks. • Management thinks developers are insignificant and worthless. • Management is completely two-faced and backstabbing. • We are adults, not high school teenagers. • Lacks essential office supplies such as a supportive chair. - I don’t agree with this and nothing like this was raised during my one on ones with all the employees. If you have specific examples you wish to raise I am available to discuss them with you and I can assure you I will act quickly if any of this type of behaviour is in fact happening. No one in management feels any employee is insignificant and worthless. • Zero process/workflow and absolutely no organization or structure. – I agree that this area within the company needs to be improved upon and with the recent new additions to management I am confident that they will be quickly addressed. • They do not invest in their employees whatsoever. – Not true, we budget tens of thousands of dollars every year to invest in our employees. • Average salary for a Software Developer is $62,000, Senior Software Developers were getting roughly that. Starting salary is roughly $45,000. – I won’t comment on specific salaries as everyone is paid based on their skill level. I can say that we offer a competitive salary and bonus. If you are comparing us to multi-billion-dollar IT companies, then we may not be as competitive as them, but certainly when compared to other smaller firms than we are more than competitive. • Culture is essential in an IT company, LifeLearn has the most toxic culture I have ever worked in. – I’m sorry I must disagree with you on this. It is obvious that you are not happy at LifeLearn and I’m truly sorry that this is the case. In my three months with LifeLearn we have been working on the culture and will continue to do so. If you have specific issues that you would like for us to work on then please bring them to my attention. • I regret spending my time, mileage, and skills on LifeLearn. – Again, I’m sorry that you feel this way and I hope that you will be a part of the solution to ensure that we make the right changes and that you will join us on our quest to be a Top Employer in the Guelph, Waterloo, Kitchener area. Advice to Management Quit or go learn how to improve your skills regarding management. – I just joined, and none of the other management team is quitting, what we are doing is rolling up our sleeves to create a company/culture that is the envy of every other company around and I certainly hope that you will assist us. Thank you again for your feedback and advice and I hope that you will come and see me so that I can personally deal with the concerns that you feel so strongly about.

Pros

-Most of the Creative/Production team members are wonderful people who genuinely wants to deliver good products -Dogs in the office if you like dogs or wants to bring your dog to work -Office is expanding -Fairly standard 9 to 5 job, not much over-time

Cons

-Negative work environment, there are some managers who act like they are in an episode of Gossip Girl, but they are in their 40s. -Timesheet here is kind of like micromanaging, you have to account to every single hour/min you spent and you have to make sure you have enough billable hours. They do not give you time for experimentation or doing research -Does not support or invest in employee's development, your skills becomes stagnant. Doesn't care about their employee, show very little support. -Cheap benefits, low pay for the industry -Projects and works are mind numbingly boring and not innovative, they made a very fake promotional/life style video of their work environment which are all lies. In reality, teams rarely collaborate like they portrayed in the video, it's very siloed. -If you are a creative type or think this is a technology focused company, stay away, they are not. And things seemed to be going well for them because they have very little competitors on the market, and clients are not sophisticated enough to know any better.

Pros

Easy work Dog friendly....it's honestly the best part because the dogs are nicer than the people

Cons

Mindless work a lot of the time because directors and leaders change their mind on what they want constantly Doesn't seem to want to invest any money in developing employees Some of the leadership is tight knit and care more about their friendship than the business or employees Toxic culture... Everyone talks negatively and management says there is an open door policy and that they want to overcome the challenges but don't put their money where their mouth is
