Pros

If you're interested in working in commercial labs you may be able to get skills to move on to somewhere else. Janitorial staff was lovely and some coworkers were also great.

Cons

Like another review mentioned, bullying is a big issue here. The job is very individualistic and it was clear that the person who trained me in does not want to train (so why was she???). Very hostile and tense work environment. You do not feel like you're working on a team at all. Job hours are unpredictable depending on sample volume. I was not told this prior to accepting the job offer and found out on my first day. I was told the hours were going to be 8-5. It is more like 7-whenever samples get done (could be 3, could be 7 pm). Despite the fact that you work with urine, some staff AND management do not use gloves when working with samples. This feels like a health hazard. Not for the faint of heart either -- the urine samples get thrown out in an open trash can where it ferments throughout the day. Probably the grossest lab I've ever seen. Take the "potential to train" with a grain of salt. If you're hired for screens and that's what you're trained in, that's what you'll be doing. Equipment was hanging on by a shoestring and made our already stressful job harder. It's even worse because you have a quota and troubleshooting eats into that. Everything feels so high stakes for something that doesn't really need to be.
