I worked at Medivet full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    They do offer competitive salaries

    Cons

Hours I was Rota’d on for were very different to those discussed at interview (15 hours more a week than I signed up for)! Most disappointed in the lack of qualified RVN staff. When a practice is charging excessively high prices and boasting about “gold standard” care to justify those prices, in my view it is unacceptable to have PCAs (Most of which had only been in the role a few months) monitoring anaesthetics and hospitalised patients, with very little nursing supervision. I have worked in charity and “low cost” practices with far better standards. I think it is very interesting that most of the 5* reviews for this company are from head office and non-clinical roles, with very few positive reviews from the clinicians caring for the animals.

I worked at Medivet full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great colleagues within all departments, good work life balance (for me). Good pay for some. Support from managers generally good.

    Cons

Inconsistencies experienced from certain departments, location of office not great for parking. Office itself terrible although nicer once refurbished. Nowhere to eat your lunch to start with

    Pros

There are no pros working for this company

    Cons

Always under staffed, employ people with no experience and expect them to monitor anaesthetic’s with very little training . Take over practices and tell you nothing will change....everything changes, might keep your original working hours for 12 months then they change them. No rotas, then they are changed the night before a shift and no one tells you.

I worked at Medivet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Worked cases up, strongly 'diagnostically led' which sometimes encouraged vets to over treat patients Great skills in the teams

    Cons

The prices are very high for the value clients receive, often to the point of costing more than a referral practice The approach was too centred around the income for the practice and not enough compassion for the animals. Some staff members quite aggressive in their manner.

I have been working at Medivet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The comradry and teamwork between clinical staff is great. I have had the pleasure of working with some incredible vets and nurses who, with their level of integrity and passion for patient care, keep Medivet going and keep patient & client care accountable to a high standard, often at the expense of their own health, professional development and their own time.

    Cons

    - Money is, above all else, the biggest priority. - Corporation demonstrate over and over again that they dont care about their staff. - Occupational burn out & compassion fatigue are not discussed, prevented or validated. - A total and utter circus of an accounts team: overpayments and under payments rife; rude accounts staff (L.F!); massive deductions made without notice - awful! - Absolutely no perks worth mentioning - Threats of disciplinary action if clients don't pay! - Some employees owed over 20 hours of overtime that Medivet REFUSE to pay them for - Sickness protocol demands employees call in sick between 7am-8am, regardless of sickness type, shift start (some shifts begin at 12pm) or staff distress. This discourages staff from phoning even if they're unwell/giving themselves time to see how they feel - Relatively low pay for ground workers - No professional trust or autonomy - Unprofessional, even low-key threatening senior staff - Antiquated equipment and facilities, decrepit buildings and cheap and awful building work; all justified by the occasional installation of expensive, high grade technology (an MRI is great but what we really wanted as a sink that doesnt leak and kennel doors that close properly) - Ridiculous prices for clients - Bad fleet management - 30 minute lunch break - Disillusioned, miserable nursing workforce that are never listened to - Unsurprisingly high staff turnover - Discouraged by management to discharge animals until owners have paid their bills! - Encouraged by management to persue payment for euthanasia on the same day, before owner leaves the practice! - Urged to give dishonest or misleading information to owners about pricing changes, payments, etc

I worked at Medivet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The odd free lunch with a rep comes in to promote their brands (not out of Medivet’s deep pockets, mind) The Medivet college.

    Cons

Where to begin...? Poor communication Confused management Bizarre pricing structure that changes often High staff turnover *some* power trip RVNs *some* egotistical vets Very basic benefits (if you’d even call them that) Unsupported A lot of expectation and guilt tripping! Extremely money orientated and you will question your integrity often. Loyalty, hard work and never having sick days mean nothing, sadly. Dated technology. Some practices are falling apart. Low team morale. Very poor culture. No social.

    Medivet Response

    February 12, 2020The Medivet Team

We want to attract and retain great talent and do appreciate constructive feedback as it really helps us to shape the business . We have a number of ways colleagues can raise concerns which allows us to address issues as they arise. Our colleagues are our greatest asset and most are hard-working, dedicated and committed to delivering exceptional care to pets and service to clients. Clearly your time with us was an unhappy one and we're sorry that you felt unsupported in the role as we want to make sure every team member feels valued. We wish you every happiness in your future career.

    Pros

Good friendly colleages in the most part.

    Cons

Managed by an ever growing number of Corporate Managers who have their own agenda and egos. Secretive and untrustworthy and lacking in respect for their staff. The Medivet family? I wouldn't treat my family like this.
