Helping the poor. Really feeling like you are making an impact and changing lives.
Cons
Working with prejudice and racists leadership. Only a few people of color advance but ALL of the Caucasians that work for employer get to the next level.
Pay was not bad as well as the hours. Loved assisting clients moving from homelessness to independent or supportive housing. Autonomy to work in the community and locate resources to help clients. Some awesome colleagues!
Cons
Management was a joke. My immediate supervisor was an RN who played favorites and had no time for clients who advocated for themselves. Would discharge them to a shelter or the street with no notice and made staff do her dirty work. Used company resources as if they were coming out of her pocket. All under the guise of staying under budget. Expected her staff to give back monetarily and otherwise to show support for the agency.
