Under Resourced, Competing Priorities, Poor Communications

Pros

Steady paycheck hits the bank account every 2 weeks.

Cons

Don't let the unlimited time off fool you - you're lucky to be able to take 2 weeks a year. Staffing is a joke. They hire unqualified staff into key positions because the new staff don't have enough experience to know how to do the job and won't question the senior management. The people with the expertise and experience, if they don't get pushed out, won't speak up for fear of losing their jobs. Conflicts of interest abound. CEO doesn't like vendors and either cancels contracts or delays payments. There are so many competing priorities that, with the very limited resources available, it's impossible to make progress on any project. Key personnel are given projects to work on, but are prohibited from communicating with other staff in order to be successful in providing a finished work product. This company is toxic. If you care about your career, walk away.

Pros

Location and opportunities in certain groups

Cons

Minimal to nil communication between management and employees. Negative employee feedback is looked as not being a team player. Negative feed back to employee from supervisor is done in the ofrm of termination. There is never any warning. Decisions made and carried out by decree. They love you as you arrive and your are chewed up and spot out when they are done. This is usually done on the last day of the month so you have zero benefits.

Pros

Work with very smart, talented people. Innovative products/ideas.

Cons

Top management hires qualified people but then doesn't let them make any decisions. Your brought on board to do a job but your hands are tied because the senior team is constantly changing directions which makes it hard to make any forward progress. On top of it all, management has created an environment that if you are not considered "within the in group" then you are an outcast, all of which is very subjective.
