I have been working at NewVoiceMedia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Interesting product suite
    Rapidly growing company
    Good management team
    Always trying to improve
Lots of options for career progression
You have the ability to make changes for the better
    Good company culture
    Flexible working environment

    Cons

    Crazy busy workload!
You have to enforce your own work life balance or will never escape the office
A handful of unhelpful idiots, (as in every company to be fair)
Some really talented people have left for avoidable reasons (eg workload)
Growing fast so not everybody there is upto speed yet

But nowhere is perfect, and overall I love working for NVM.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you’re doing but DON’T LOSE THE CULTURE! It’s what separates nvm from its competitors.
Don’t be afraid to change things that have always been done a certain way, times change so let’s change with them. Keep the flexibility and strive to improve it further, it’s so important in a busy environment and appreciated by all.

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at NewVoiceMedia full-time

    Pros

    - Exciting at first, as lots of events held, social activities, fast paced
    - Good energy in the office most of the time, positive employees
    - Impressive technology

    Cons

    - Brain washing of product information and sales processes.
    - Not given opportunity to voice opinion about the processes and the company, and if you do you are scrutinized for it.
    - A lot of politics, and hierarchy.
    - Old school style of working, no real collaboration, every man for himself.
    - Some management lacked experience and therefore handled people and situations within teams ineffectively, some management became very power hungry and misused power for own personal gain.
    - Didn't make employees feel valued, felt like just a cog in the system- felt like being treated as robots a lot of the time

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees and respect their opinions. Make the organisation more flat structured.

I worked at NewVoiceMedia full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The things that stand out about DevOps at NewVoiceMedia is the quality of the people and the quality of the culture that the Dev Managers have created. I have had the pleasure of working with a bunch of truly amazing and talented developers, testers, product owners, scrum masters, support and operations people.

I have no hesitation saying that this is the best team I have encountered thus far in my 20 years as a developer.

The level of teamwork is extraordinary and you will be both challenged to be your best and supported to attain that goal. This applies whether you are just starting out in your career, or if you are experienced in your field.

Their practice of agile is excellent and well supported in the organisation by senior scrum masters and an agile coach.

    Cons

Whatever your role, you will face the challenge of a complex system that has as much legacy areas as it does shiny new areas. This complexity tends to bring high levels of friction into every day work (lots of "yak shaving") and I observed less drive to reduce developer friction than I would have expected.

Although you may find yourself working on some shiny new, cutting edge technology, you will also need to be comfortable maintaining legacy aspects of the system. There is also less automation in daily tasks that there could or should be.

Architecture is not well integrated into their work and tends to be ad hoc. The negative of this is felt more due to the complexity in the product and production pipeline.

    Advice to Management

Reduce friction in the product and make it easier to build, debug, deploy and test. Integrate architectural practice into the teams. These will make your team even happier and more productive.

I have been working at NewVoiceMedia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

With an internal development team we are constantly changing our product and bringing in new features that put us in a stronger competitive position.
It's an exciting and dynamic environment to work in.

    Cons

The culture is hard working and caring, though previously there was room for improvement for recognising the hard work. The execs have just started putting in a better system for recognising peak performers which has had lots of positive feedback so far.

    Advice to Management

As we are growing more quickly we need to make sure we are continuing to review our processes more frequently.
