Pros

Great City location in Mission Bay, once a promising biotech hub. Good benefits. USCF gym close by. Good public transit, and company paid parking.

Cons

Constant struggle to recruit and retain great employees. Lack of strategic vision and communication, as evidenced by high manager turnover. No/low work/life balance. No option to work from home. Expected to work weekends. Mission Bay is becoming more of a sports hub, with many biotech companies vacating the area in recent years.

Pros

Clear vision to achieve success, many opportunities for professional advancement, flat organizational chart, encouragement of cross disciplinary training, well-funded for a biotech at its stage of growth.

Cons

Proximity to multiple arenas makes traffic a nightmare on game days, hiring practices could stand to be reviewed to accelerate headcount increases during times of critical need.

Pros

Until I was unceremoniously laid off, Nurix was arguably the best work environment I had ever been in. Remote work was embraced, depending on your job duties and I never felt micromanaged. On the contrary, I felt like I was given freedom to approach projects my own way instead of being beholden to existing processes. I also got to meet and work with some of the most brilliant people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Cons

Layoffs happened and were not communicated clearly or ahead of time, both to those that got let go and those that stayed behind. The lack of transparency and honesty from leadership is enough for me to never want to come back to work here again even if I was offered another job with a pay spike.
