Pretty awful place to work

Pros

The best thing about working at OCG was the fact that so many other positive and talented individuals worked there as well. Also, if it matters to you, the office is beautiful. And I thought the pay was reasonable.

Cons

I say this with the intent of giving constructive feedback that will help jobseekers understand what they will be getting into by joining this organization. If I had been given an opportunity to provide these comments via an exit interview, I would have. Most of the problems are a direct tie to poor leadership. Management here is unprofessional and uninterested in building up their staff. Most of the directors and "chiefs of" were unqualified for their positions. You get the sense that leaders are selected more on their ability to serve as "yes" men and women to the president rather than any true ability. Certainly the president does not care for or try to understand people who are not a lot like her. This also falls under leadership, but I think it deserves to be spotlighted as its own con. There is a culture of not caring about the employees. I think the leadership is totally unaware of what skill sets their employees possess, what they are interested in working on, and/or in what direction they would like their careers to go. In my time there, I was assigned to work on several clients/projects that I was extremely unsuited for. If they had spoken to me about these assignments, even if it was just for the appearance of having done so, they would have known that. But they moved me (and others) around like chess pieces. (One of my colleagues probably worked on 10 clients in her year or two there.) That is unsurprising; OCG is great at setting people up to fail. Morale was terrible. People got fired all the time. We even had a couple of pools going as to when the next person would be fired. (Not to be ugly, but just because it was such a major part of life there. Many people never made it through their 90 day probation period.) Also, the general consensus was that leadership thought we were all stupid and bad at our jobs. No one feels good working in that environment. Finally, and this is almost trivial compared to the other fundamental cracks in the structure of this company, but the benefits aren't great. Deductible is crazy high and the PTO is a joke.

Thank you for your feedback. My apologies for the tardy reply. I am sorry your experience at OCG|PR did not match your expectations. We have worked very hard to attract the right clients and right team members. We take your feedback seriously. I wanted to address a few of your specific claims. First, at OCG|PR we continue to look for ways to enhance our employee benefits. We currently offer three weeks of PTO. We allow team members to flex one day a week. We close our office during the summer months at noon on Fridays. We currently pay 50% of our employee health benefits. As well as offer short term disability insurance. Secondly, we have improved our hiring process to ensure we attract the right team members with the right skill set that fit our culture. Please feel free to email me at tonya.veasey@ocgpr.com if you would like to share more about your experience at OCGPR. Again, thank you for your feedback and best of luck in your future endeavors. Pros

The offices are nicely decorated.

Cons

The turnover rate is extremely high. People get fired or demoted and they end up quitting. The company changes goals and identity every six months and they have a hard time retaining clients.

Thank you for your response. My apologies for the late reply. I am sorry your experience at OCG|PR did not meet your expectations. We value your feedback but I wanted to address your specific concern you mentioned in your feedback. In 2015 our agency hired a business consultant to assist in creating a more stable business model for OCG|PR. This caused the agency to change our target market as well as our talent pool. Fortunately, we now have a much stronger business model and talent pool. The changes were not easy but worth the work. Thank you for your feedback. Please feel free to contact me directly at tonya.veasey@ocgpr.com.

Pros

Places like Glassdoor exist to stop people from working here.

Cons

While I was working at OCG PR everything seemed very promising during the interview and the first week but I learned very quickly about the Presidents management style, lack of respect and also business ethics. You have a business and should trust the employees. While she has made mention of the “Bad Hiring” decisions that were made part of the problem is that she is not only the President but takes on the role of HR too so how can you blame the lack of business ethics and lay-offs on bad hiring decisions when the President is making all of the hiring decisions that means you aren’t vetting people correctly or you simply don’t know what you are looking for. She keeps the theory of moving things a long by bringing in consultants and people time and time again but that never fixes the problem because the problem is her (The President)

You again! I heard you lost your job again so am not surprised you would write another review. I believe this is your 4th or 5th review? If you haven't noticed, women are taking back their voices, so your harassment will not intimidate me. OCG+ is doing just fine. You are right, I should have done a better job at hiring the right people- I could have avoided hiring you! What Glassdoor has allowed you to do is bully and harass me, period. Unfortunately for you, I will not give you that power. My advise to you is to get help. P.S.- As the CEO of a small agency, I am responsible for janitorial services, accounting, HR, etc. I don't have the luxury of being hired and not performing and then getting on Glassdoor and harassing my previous employers who figured me out.
