Pros

The client services teams who are on minimum wage are the most hard working, lovely, supportive people.

Cons

Firstly, the job that you apply for is unlikely to be the actual job that is vacant. This is a standing joke within the company. an appraisal scheme was introduced which should have been called the bonus prevention scheme. The rules changed constantly and scores were reviewed by senior management who told you to change them if they didn't agree. Directors tell you to talk to them if you are unhappy or are thinking of leaving. This is true if you are a clinician, and believe me they will throw everything at you to get you to stay. Not the case for non clinical staff. Don't get me wrong, I would not have stayed if they'd offered me the world but non clinical staff are made to feel inferior. I could dish a lot more dirt about this company but to be honest it's not worth it, nothing will ever change there. As I said the teams who keep the company going are on minimum wage with no sick pay, no bonuses and no thanks. If you are still working at PAM and you're reading this believe me there is a big wide world out here with lots of jobs where you will be valued , you won't be expected to work outside of your normal working hours and where you get treated equally no matter what your job is and even if you're not best friends with a director.

Pros

There are some lovely therapists who work at the company who are trying to do their best. The pay is good (for some) as there is no standardised pay scale.

Cons

No sick pay. Management are absent or unable to support. Therapists are to complete 7 client hours per day. No time for self-care, admin etc. Relentless ironic emails about taking care of yourself and resilience but then also are told any admin triages in diaries MUST be explained. Micro managed in some ways, unsupported in lots of others. Constantly back covering - the focus cannot be on the client as therapists are always worried about what is coming next There are bullies within the organisation - without a doubt. All of these points are regularly raised but never addressed.

Pros

Good pension Flexible working inc. home.

Cons

Lacking sufficient staff numbers in all areas of the business; as a consequence of the owner's unrealistic expectations leading to managers being unable to manage people and staff struggling to perform due to not having time and space to do a good job. Constant profit driven pressure flowing down from the board (owner) with regular redundancy and restructure announcements being the norm. High staff turnover in all areas, particularly clinicians. Several subsidiary businesses, all of which lack the investment to help them thrive and grow, resulting in unrealistic growth targets and constant churn of senior management and businesses not meeting targets. Lack of investment in areas of need i.e. the IT system which looks glamorous on the outside but behind the scenes is nowhere near sufficient, leading to constant work arounds being required resulting in difficulties and pressure for client service staff and clinicians who use the system. Very toxic culture resulting from owner's approach to managing staff and the business. I'm purposely refraining from describing the owner too much - other reviews have done that quite well. However, he is fundamentally PAM Group's biggest problem. He can be commended for growing the business between 2000 and 2020 but once a business gets to a certain size (and especially in this new world) it needs to rely on high caliber people, trust them to make decisions and give them room to thrive. Unfortuntely, in my opinion, the owner is incapable of doing that.
