Do not stay long

Pros

WFH flexibility, no micro-management, work-life balance

Cons

Very poor HR team and management. There is close to no management in the company. Do not expect to get to know or bond with your co-worker. Nobody is meeting anybody, not even online. HR team is extremely unreasonable and they will not accommodate special needs. It almost feels like they are lazy in doing their job and they only care how much work you can offer without even trying to be nice. Supervisors are harsh and very direct. It feels like they think they have power trip over you. No thank you, no greeting, just orders of how work should be done. Management in this company is a mystery. You won't know your boss, company history, background, or anything like that. Just got paid and get your work done. No vision of future career path.

Why Fake 5 stars review?

Pros

The recent heavy workload guided me to re-evaluate my career. Was trying to review how other colleagues think about it, so I looked it up here in Glassdoor. And just to find out, there are many unreal reviews posted recently (which are AI-generated in my view). So back to the point, the pro for this job is WFH, but pretty much it. Not to mention, you have to be very okay with no in-person communications at all (not even calls). It might be a good thing to start with, but you will notice how this can affect your future career growth as you stay in the company.

Cons

1) NO future career growth. The company doesn't value staff's hard work. After all the updates on recent immigration policies, your hard work is not appreciated in any form. There is just a lot of updates on guidelines everyday that you have to follow. I mean it would be fine if, as an employee, your work is appreciated. But no, they (HR and manager) just expect you to do your work perfectly right. They will mention tiny tasks that you did not do right (out of 100s) in an evaluation. 2) Org. chart does not exist. Who is the head of HR? Who is the head of your manager? These are mysteries to this company. It almost feels like they do not want you to know their internal structure so you can keep your mouth shut when you are getting abused (mainly from the nonsensical HR, as you can tell from all those fake reviews). The longer you stay in the company, the more mysteries you will discover. 3) Heavy workload. I know fully remote sounds like a big benefit, but to be ready due to recent immigration policy changes, you will have a heavy workload, and there is a lot of thinking involved in daily work. Sometimes you can get mentally exhausted after a workday. Your paychecks, though, do not reflect the increasing workload. They pay a fair (but not good) salary for the amount of work and thinking you have to deal with. 4) Case managers' work is not valued. After handling a case well, and the client provided compliments, it is your attorney who comes out to take the credit. But when there is a complaint about your message, you are the person who is responsible. This role is underappreciated.

Lifeless company & LAZY HR

Pros

Free subway pass, some snacks in the office

Cons

> ZERO reason to be onsite (all tasks are done online), but you're still forced to come in - You need to bring your own laptop, mouse, keyboard, etc. - Silent and depressing office (like a self-study zone in the library) > LAZY HR. They used to ask you to find someone to cover your work before requesting leave. This should be HR's job. Later on, they just dump it on managers. > When you ask HR anything, they usually just tell you to go ask your manager. > HR doesn't even organize any activities, not even an annual dinner. We only had takeout lunch once in the office when it was close to Christmas, quite petty indeed. > Job ad said it's a remote position, but they only mention the mandatory 5-day office policy in the final interview round. > You can't take leave for more than 10 days at once, even if you have already acquired more than 10 days leave, or if you offer to take no pay leave. > Salary is way below the industry average as well.
