I have been working at PatSnap full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I joined PatSnap a few years ago and it has been a unique experience so far. PatSnap is a fast growing start-up company with offices in UK, China, Singapore, US and Canada. As marketing executive, I get to learn from my counterparts from those offices on how they position the product to the customers there, and I have the opportunity to learn and localize it to local context. I am proud to say that we are the leading...

    Cons

It is definitely not a job for everyone. To work in PatSnap, you need to embrace change, embrace a lot of ups and downs. There are times I feel chaotic, but there are also times that I feel my work is very meaningful because I can have a lot of say in what I do.

    Advice to Management

How to make sure all the people in difference offices can share the same values and mission, everyone can feel the together-ness and belonging, that we are one patsnap team that will be key for patsnap to continue to grow in the next few years.

I worked at PatSnap full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I just left patsnap and I really appreciate the opportunity given. This is my first product manager role. I was under the data team as data expert originally and the company willing to give me a chance to be product manager when I applied for it. For the past 1 year when I was product manager, I have learnt so much. The last project I was involved in was the smart image feature. It was one of the very innovative feature...

    Cons

Since last year the company start introducing process to manage the product release. We setup a PMO function to run that. The intention was good but the actual implementation should be better well thought out. I believe the process is suitable for bigger corporation but for our size, we should have a lighter process and keep our agility and innovation.

    Advice to Management

Product is still the most core to the business, especially we are a Saas business. Our patent core analytics is definitely the leading product in the industry and we also have launched a few new products - discovery and bio. We need keep innovating but at the same time need to be focus.

I have been working at PatSnap full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic customer universe and market place if your curious about technology and best practice innovation. Evolving and maturing ''go to market'' team which is working on some game changing strategies.

    Cons

Very fast paced and sometimes choatic - guessing that's normal for a venture capital backed SaaS business. Also the founders are relatively young so sometimes get shiny toy syndrome:-)

    Advice to Management

Our naturally evolving focus on ''innovation intelligence'' is very excisting and engaging. Please stay focused on this as I feel we are really on to a long-term winning stratgey.

I worked at PatSnap full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-The new WeWork office in London has free beer and prosecco

    Cons

Where to start? -Very weak leadership and management competency overall across the organisation, apart from a few notable exceptions (mostly those who have come in from outside and know what a “normal” business looks like). -Little to no commercial vision. China produces product, West tries to sell it as quickly as possibly, then churns 40% of it in next 12 months. And so it goes on. -Quotas are unachievable thanks...

    Advice to Management

Stop writing fake reviews with the same old spin about “typical growing pains of a start up”. People at EVERY level of experience and every area of the business have been leaving in droves over the last 12 months because there is no leadership strategy, because they are promised autonomy and not given it, and because the culture is one of dog eat dog and silo’s. “Grit” is held up at THE main quality to succeed at PatSnap,...

    Pros

Great location in Chiswick Business Park - away from the business of Central Opportunity to progress Not racist (like a lot of ridiculous reviews have previously stated) Great com's scheme for both SDR and AE

    Cons

Typical Hype Growth constraints, noting out of the ordinary

I worked at PatSnap full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The years up to 2017 - the commissions and the people there created a great energy and vibe. I would have said a good step into sales if you are a new grad and want to learn sales quickly, but I am not even sure now.

    Cons

Too many to list them all but mainly: All the VP's that have joined in the past 3 basically leave within a year of joining as a recent review here highlighted. Why? Founder team alignment with new execs is clearly missing. Mentioned a few times but founder/CEO has proven himself ineffective at leading a company of this size and doesn't actually understand what company culture needs to be - mostly everyone here is...

    Advice to Management

Learnt a lot here it was good times whilst the growth was there before 2018 kicked in and you hit the self explode button. Was a great energy on the floor and deals coming in keeps sales teams happy and allowing for everyone to look over the cracks. When that dried up and the cracks began to appear, your answer of just hiring VP's and hoping they would turn things around was a poor attempt and you also alienated...

I worked at PatSnap full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Many great colleagues, products are good, business park lovely (out of central London), transparent progression opportunities

    Cons

SO much attrition, really great people leaving the company on a constant basis. Many of the employees are disgruntled due to internal change, 18-19 a transitionary period for the company so this is to be expected but the level of staff turnover is surely a cause for concern. There is no clear best practice for the sales teams, and the sales managers are all so different. These managers also blatantly hold each other...

Create an environment that fosters collaboration, follow through on contractual demands for referrals and case-studies that are offered in return for discounts.
