This employee did not provide the complete picture. During the interview process, he was advised that it takes us a full year before he becomes fully trained and productive, which understood and agreed to.
During that time, he also asked me if I was ok with letting him to continue study and submit papers for his studies during business hours, to which I agreed to.
Not even a month later, I discovered that he was still actively looking and interviewing for other jobs. Knowing that, I gave him 3 options:
1. To stop looking for other jobs
2. To withhold $3500 from his salary, to be paid back with interest if he stayed for a year (would not even be close to covering the training cost or the productivity for the company and other employees training him)
3- To leave.
He wasn't even a month in, when he decided not to take option 1 or 2.
