I have been working at Phase Eight part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Good team however short lived as everyone leaves in bundles
    - Good pay
    - Easily can get extra hours if needed
    - Recognition on feefo feedback from regional manager

    Cons

    - inflexible rota = if you say you cant work certain days you still get put in
    - they find it difficult to stick to your minimum contracted hours, even if you ask to work just that
    - too many tasks and pressure, handle more than capable at once.
    - pressure on spending money for business dress - feeding your pay back into the store
    - insensitive comments
    - handed supervisor roles and tasks on a sales consultant salary
    - no regard is taken for working conditions - no drinkable water access or heating is on for minimal amount of time
    - pressure to force conversations with customers
    - asked to be on shop floor working 10 mins before every shift and leave late after closing - all unpaid

    Advice to Management

ask what staff are comfortable doing rather than force.
less pressure on spending own money for phase eight business dress
pay for the work that is actually done

    Pros

Nice employees in the branch I was in (Debenhams)
    fairly chilled for part timers
    not very busy often

    Cons

Other branches would take credit for work they didn't do,
Higher area manager was unprofessional, unfair and rude.

I worked at Phase Eight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

To the store level, the workload it isn't overwhelming as in the majority of the retail companies because the trade is slow and no often floor/windows movement either. Also in hierarchy majority are men and not with much experience in fashion or management to provide dynamic growth, very often extremely layback for such an industry.

    Cons

A very doggy way of working with people: hierarchy who are majority men of a middle age group without experience within the fashion industry, therefore, they passed the important decision to very young girls with generous v-neck blouses and short skirts but without any experience or qualification. As a result, the company is left exposed to all potential opportunism, according to their like/dislike without an example of a healthy merit.

    Advice to Management

All the girls that I work with they aim to shorten up their skirts and lower down their neck blouses as their valid way to get a promotion. They louder their voice and intensify their gossip and slander behind as a valid way to be appreciated. Don't be deceived if these people are ready to accept low pay in paper and give you more personal fun. Don't pass onto them management function. They will cost you ten times more at the end by the damage they indirectly produce. Implement better professional values with integrity at work and it will pay off your effort. And don't be afraid of specialists who ask you a double salary. They cost you less at the end. And if you want affairs, keep them away from your work environment completely they can only generate corruption.
