1. Their benefits are so awful, they might as well not offer any.
(It takes six years for you to be vested in your 401k. The "profit sharing" they give you is not for two years with the company and it goes into your 401 k which you won't see 100% of until you're there for six years. If you leave before two years, you don't get to take your PTO with you. Their rules for education reimbursement are ridiculous)
2. They don't care about the health and safety of their employees
Your eyes, nose and esophagus will burn as you dispose of the formalin over the sink that is not ventilated. They will also burn when you dig through biohazard bags to pull samples for regrossing. Most places have a ventilated shelf system...they have boxes with bags of jars and spilled formalin. It's actually painful to find samples.
3. They are so big brother it's ridiculous! Cameras everywhere and our supervisor told us they will be installing microphones. They have people who monitor and tell our supervisor what we are up to in real time. Take too long in the bathroom? You will hear about it.
4. The lab is absolutely disgusting, not well maintained. I spray my shoes down before walking in the house to not bring disease with me
5. Instruction is a minimum. Better hope you catch on quickly. They have hardly any SOPs and they do not keep good training records. Any professional lab should have these in place.
If OSHA or the FDA came to this place, I promise it will not go well for the company. The employee turn over rate is crazy and they keep minimum staff so if someone calls out, good luck finishing on time. They say they are patient oriented, but mistakes happen with a physically sick, mentally drained overworked staff.
