Pros

The compensation was somewhat competitive.

Cons

My experience at PL was pretty bad right off the bat. The job I was sold in the 6 hours of interviews was not at all what I was given upon being hired. I was then assigned to a manager whom consistently held my head under the water; they completely ruined my experience and denied me any room for career growth. After months of being drip-fed menial tasks, having my questions or concerns flat out ignored for weeks on end, going through other communication channels, and being denied access to important company resources, I reached out to HR to try and resolve the problems I was facing and nothing changed whatsoever. After 3 months I eventually found out that, two weeks prior, a group had been formed around the task I was to be working on. I learned from an announcement at an all-hands meeting. Nobody even bothered to tell me nor invite me. I handed in my resignation only 3 1/2 months into the position, and nobody at the company even bothered to ask me why I was leaving or where my discontent came from during my offboarding. I just had my permissions revoked, no meeting, no nothing. They are incredibly disorganized, have a clear lack of experience on the management levels, lack diversity, and frankly don't care much about their employee's satisfaction or place in the company. I regard the entire experience as a massive waste of time. Explore options at other blockchain organisations -- I'm now at a new workplace where my time and expertise is actually respected.

Disorganized, dysfunctional, and leaderless.

Pros

Competitive pay, remote work, distributed teams. Mostly smart, mostly well-meaning people.

Cons

The founder is a visionary, but has no plan or directives to accomplish that vision. The organization mostly bends to satisfy his ego and ridiculous timelines, burning out whoever he wishes along the way. The leader are not leaders. Most were roommates of, or met the founder at Stanford and this has been their only job. There is a huge gap of management experience at the leadership level. Most do not know how to communicate a vision, there are rarely any strategic plans or strategic thinking, and there is no north star. Management is not even important at this company. There is no emphasis on growing yourself or your reports. There is no business strategy. When employees ask for one, "leadership" tells us to execute. There is no thinking before doing here and if you dare suggest it, you are dismissed. They treat women like crap. Repeatedly. Firstly, there are very few women at the company, and only a few in leadership positions. Most of the women in leadership positions do not empower other women. "Vocal" women are pushed out or fired regularly. Gas lighting and under-resourcing women is common. Many women refuse to work with some "leaders" because of their past treatment from these guys. They do not care about employee growth. The recruiting process is very fruitful and full over over-promises. The experience once you are inside is a nightmare.
