Pros

More free hours towards licensure than you will ever need in the two years post masters. Mostly nice and friendly co-workers and staff and upper management. A lot of experience within the community. You will get a really good understanding of how the school system in Miami-Dade works. Making a difference when you're not killing yourself.

Cons

Pay is low. Driving time is insane. Little respect for your work as you are constantly being told to do even more. Feels like a 60 hour a week job. They are always changing benefits and how you are paid. Paid time off currently only applies when you take a week off. Constantly drowning in paperwork. Have to see way too many clients a week to be sane, and then they tell you "oh you can do 28/30 hours of clients and still get your bonus if you take a week off. As if that is at all healthy to do to see that many clients and be driving!! The psychiatrist in the south is very condescending and difficult to work with. Most of my clients refuse to see her because she is so disrespectful and then i have to struggle to find them another doctor. I have spoken to many other therapists, other staff, and TCM's who say the same...

Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we have definitely been looking at ways to improve. We are happy you have been enjoying your supervision towards your license which is one of the goals we have for all our therapists. To become Licensed Clinicians in the State of Florida. Your feedback on the compensation and incentives has been reviewed and we would love to continue coming up with innovative ways on recognizing and rewarding our employees. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with one of our psychiatrists. This is something we will continue looking into. We've been listening to our employees and we hope that you continue to provide your services to our clients because we do appreciate everything you do. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at extension 228.

Pros

Opportunity to provide services in the least restrictive setting for the client, ability to create your own schedule, free supervision, overall positive company culture in the office. Excellent if you are passionate about social justice issues and are not afraid to work with high-risk, multi-problem clients and families.

Cons

Yes you can create your own schedule, but you will still be working 12 hour days during the school year because say you start at 8:30 for your earliest client, then some schools don't allow therapists in so you can't see x number of clients until they get home, then you have the clients whose parents get home after 6. Scheduling and accommodating clients can be a nightmare and the pressure to make it to 26 hour "service delivery" is debilitating at times. Also, yes supervision is free but it's more focused on administrative tasks as opposed to exploring clinical and process-oriented issues.

Thank you for your feedback. Thank you for your nice comments about our culture and some of our benefits! We definitely want our employees to receive clinical supervision. Yes, administrative tasks must be discussed but we want you to continue to learn and develop your clinical skills. We are constantly looking for ways to engage and recognize our employees and we will definitely look into your suggestions. Thank you again and if you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at extension 228.

Pros

Opportunity to work as a therapist after completing the graduate program with very little experience in the field.

Cons

Working long hours since therapists have to provide the services at clients' home/school. Working from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. Too much driving. Writing the notes after finishing seeing all the clients. Unstable pay due to client's cancellations.

Thank you for your review. We are happy you were able to graduate and come work with us at PsychSolutions after obtaining your degree. Therapists are required to do a minimum of 23 face to face hours each week. We do not expect nor is it required for employees to work over 12 hours a day. During our interview process, we have a presentation where we advise all applicants that this is a community-based position so there will be driving involved. We also advise that since we work with Medicaid clients, documentation is required by the insurances. Due to client cancellations, we always assign more than 23 hours a week to ensure our employees have their full time schedule.
