Pros

Remote work, a lot of projects going on most of their locations.

Cons

They promise a fantastic opportunity but in reality, you end up doing ALL the work well outside your job description and work long hours on projects you were not hired to do but yet you crush it, making a huge impact that everyone is benefiting from (besides the person who actually did the work). This resulted in sacrificing any bonus opportunities you were promised when hired because you’re too busy doing your managers job to even do your own. Then as a “thank you” for all your efforts, the manager actually takes credit for your achievements and ideas. As if that’s not bad enough, this manager tells you what you want to hear praising you etc but in reality they are telling the higher ups a different story and giving you no credit. Very sneaky and deceitful but senior management is clueless this goes on. Don’t make the same mistake I did but if you do accept any opportunity here, watch your back.

First, thank you for leaving your comment - companies like QE Solar rely on information from former and current employees to help find and make improvements. We're sorry you had a difficult experience at QE in your time here. It sounds like you were here during a time of extended growth, and in those moments we all tend to pitch in and make an impact, and as our company grows, tenured employees tend to shoulder new work outside of their 'job description' - that's true in any company! And sometimes managerial relationships are really hard to navigate, so we encourage you to do some training in how to deliver upward feedback, voice your concerns, and also be transparent with your own leadership going forward. We're doing a lot to help upskill our managers (who are mostly organically promoted from within, by the way!) to take on leadership and build their managerial presence. So, if you're a job seeker and reading this review, please know we have top notch managers, training, and teams who get a lot of incredible credit for the hard work they do. One person's experience is not that of the whole. Come and check us out!

Pros

- Remote work. - Flexible schedule. - Gain entry-level solar experience.

Cons

- Benefits are the bare minimum, health insurance is covered for employee but hardly any coverage when actually utilizing the plan. - 10 PTO days, 5 sick days with no wiggle room for negotiation. Can carry over 2 days into the next year otherwise it all gets forfeited. - Little room for work-life balance. You are required to work weekends and major holidays for most roles and answer phone calls 24/7. Salaried employees are not eligible for overtime rates. - Unclear bonus structure, at the mercy of your manager if they even aid in managing you. No bonus for hourly employees. - Have to ask for raises as well, no clear path toward upward mobility path. - Sudden layoffs, positions are not safe, employees are treated as disposable resources.

Dear Reviewer - Thank you for the open comments and we'll take an opportunity to respond so that future job seekers have a full picture. - Benefits (health, dental, vision) are actually very well priced and industry standard - we are co-employed and thus are able to offer large-company benefit prices for a small-company size. As such, a lot of employees don't spend enough time getting to know what their options are - we always recommend a thorough review of benefits when choosing an employer! - PTO and Sick Days are delivered at the front of the year or pro-rated upon hire in the first calendar year, and are thus state-compliant for both PTO and Sick Day policies or requirements. We offer swap floating holidays, as well, to help employees better manage and extend days off when more convenient! - Working hours - in our industry, the sun doesn't just shine for 8 hours a day! Hourly, non-exempt employees are eligible for approved overtime. Salaried exempt employees are never eligible for overtime by law, but on occasion do have weekend or holiday responses to outages, emergencies, etc. (Typical for our industry and for a salaried individual). - Bonuses, raises, and upward mobility are all discretionary and earned based on personal effort & growth as well as company performance. - As for layoffs, if a position is now posted in the same type of role, it's likely due to normal attrition or the resignation of other employees choosing to depart. We hope this helps as future employees read reviews like the one above, and to remember Glassdoor often captures more flies than honey on reviews! We're here to provide the insight and accuracy in our company culture and offerings. Thanks!

Pros

Depending on the portfolio, the work isn't very difficult or challenging. There are some days when it is very slow, which is nice for a remote position. Pay is good for entry-level. Company is growing fast and hopefully changing for the better as they work out growing pains.

Cons

Training is very limited, and you are thrown in to learn everything on your own. There is a huge variance depending on the team/portfolio you're assigned to. Some are very low maintenance and some are a mess. Managers are extremely busy and don't hold regular check-ins, leaving you to handle issues that are out of your depth. They expect you to check sites on weekends/vacations. For the Analyst position, there is currently no path for promotion/advancement. Overall job is easy but tedious, boring and doesn't really grow many useful skills. Good first job out of college, or foot in the door to Solar but not where you want to build a career.
