Pros

Great people to work with. All supportive, hard-working and nice. Projects with large retail companies. Because the company is small, I wear different hats and have opportunity to try out things I've always wanted to do like coding or project management. Work-life balance is great.

Cons

Immensely understaffed. That leads to poor quality of work, unclear expectations for you, and no personal development unless you champion that yourself. I find the corporate culture toxic - no one expresses their true feelings and gives candid feedback to each other or the management.

We value this feedback and welcome the acknowledgement of the positive factors it outlines. We are proud of our truly collaborative team, and we make sure that anyone who is experiencing issues or is feeling unsupported in their work has an open channel to discuss their situation and find a solution. Our regular conversations on both at company, team and individual level demonstrate that everyone is able to access this support whenever they need it. To address the other points, it’s our policy to offer and arrange training to everyone in the company, no matter what their role, and so far this year over 60% of the team has taken part in at least one training day relevant to their needs delivered by an external party who are experts in their field as well as the internal training programme that is reviewed quarterly. We are also committed to promotion from within – everyone has a path to career progress with regular one to one's to review and reset of their plan and we take every step to ensure they can develop and grow in their role. Finally, it is inevitable in any growing company that roles and requirements evolve in line with client needs especially during holiday periods – we have an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects thanks to our long-term strategy for both product and people development. We hope that this encourages everyone in the Red Ant team to talk to their line managers and/or the leadership team whenever they have an issue – we will listen and, wherever we can, take action to ensure they can do their best work.

Pros

Different projects (adds interest / variety) Fun environment (sometimes)

Cons

Not one technical employee had a CS degree including superiors who didn't deploy CS principles on a scalable product. Management operates by chain of command, meaning the lowest common denominator feel the wrath of badly managed projects Group think and/or lack of freedom of expression Inclusivity actually implies the inverse Meritocracy is not a principle in this company Arbitrary deadlines (crony corporatism)

Thanks for your feedback. In the interests of transparency and to give an accurate picture of Red Ant and how we work, we’d like to address the key points raised. We build our teams based on talent and the ability to solve challenges for our clients, and we recognize that this can come from all backgrounds and experiences. We employ smart people, who pair intellect with a practical approach to software development. This approach has allowed us to put together strong skill sets which have delivered many successful, groundbreaking projects for large brands and retailers over almost twenty years. Part of the process of working with clients is that we are partnering with them to build a product to meet their specific needs. It’s essential to have a coherent team which contributes tools and choices of frameworks with input at all project stages, where team members work together and support each other to deliver the best possible outcome for our clients. We’re part of a fast-paced industry where retailers and brands face significant demands and challenges, so it’s essential to have an agile approach and to work at a pace which ensures they can run pilots and test solutions to help with the pressures they face. Our deadlines are set so that we can deliver products which meet their needs – it’s one of the reasons why they choose to work with us. Finally, we value teamwork and collaboration. We pride ourselves on recognizing and rewarding our fantastic teams of diverse, talented and dedicated individuals for the excellent work they do. It’s what makes Red Ant able to deliver first-class, award-winning work for some of the biggest retail and lifestyle brands.
