Pros

The dogs coming in, helping customers with their purchases and suggesting items.

Cons

Poor pay, not offered enough hours to live on but will hire full time staff off the street with no experience; hours changed up to 3 times per week. Cliques.

Discriminatory and Poorly Run

Pros

You get to see dogs regularly and you get a bit of a discount, none of the pros have anything to do with working for the company, though, really.

Cons

Managers are poorly trained and don't handle stress well at all. They have a tendency to take things out on their employees when they're having a difficult day. Overall, most things are poorly run in-store. Managers and Team Leads are disorganized, often frantic, never seem to know what's going on. Shifts are cancelled an hour before they start, breaks aren't given out correctly. The training is seriously lacking in these stores, the managers and team leads don't seem to know much about labour laws. I was subject to workplace discrimination. Overall, not worth working for.

Pros

Flexible hours, build relationships with customers, good product knowledge

Cons

Policy changes happen suddenly without explanations, unnecessarily strict dress code especially compared to competitors, responsibilities not always clear, if you’re a good employee you are expected to pick up the slack of others.

Pros

- I developed a better understanding of the product lines, which proved beneficial in regards to my own pets. - At the time, they provided a discount on pet products for employees, which was very economical for me while I was employed.

Cons

- I was usually expected to arrive earlier than my shift, and expected to stay late, sometimes by many hours. - Despite numerous complaints by customers, there were not enough people on shift at any given time, even when it was very busy. Due to the shortage of staff, we were continuously unable to take our breaks. - Management had unreasonable and extreme expectations for task completion and sales. the chain of command was very complicated, and prompt assistance was rarely available to employees. - Several employees were dismissed immediately following their shifts and were not given any warning, or reason for dismissal. - Emphasis was not placed on quality of customer service, but primarily upon profit.
