Pros

Opportunities to meet very intelligent and open-minded people

Cons

Horrific incompetence within management. Morale is shocking as management refuse to listen or act on feedback from employees in any meaningful way. Senior leaders within QC department are painfully incompetent and seem to have just fallen into the role rather than earning it through scientific understanding; cannot answer basic biological questions about what they are doing. Refusal to help direct reports and instead use them as scapegoats. No diversity of training within teams/between teams to encourage understanding, learning, development or to even utilise previous experience that would be beneficial. Too political. New starters are given bare minimum in terms of support and teaching and are expected to figure it out themselves. Certain critical members of staff that interact with all departments of the site are incredibly rude and childish and seem to hold grudges and are very abrasive. Overall not a good place to work. They do not encourage growth or development, the culture is toxic and the senior management are incompetent. They will work you like a dog and expect you to thank them for it.

Pros

Majority of staff are nice to work with. Some decent benefits. Promising product.

Cons

Terrible management in several departments. Little to no career progression. The US site seems to be more favoured than the UK site. Salaries are relatively low and there are expectations to work weekends without over-time pay.

Pros

-a few intelligent and competent people in adjacent departments that can teach you a lot -if you buy your manager lots of presents you will get promoted -if you've worked there more than 5 years you're sorted, don't have to do any work and get free promotions -milton park is a beautiful area

Cons

-forced to work free overtime due to staffing issues -management visibly disrespect women with more experience than them -managers will openly gossip and plot the downfall of junior staff they don't like the personality of. -No HR, only HR support is sporadically given from USA who do not understand UK laws -management openly fat shaming employees -sick pay given on a vibe check basis, if they think you deserve it and like you -management will steal your hard work as their own but will put you under the bus for any mistakes -zero communication, you're not even told when people on your team have quit until they stop showing up to work -suffocatingly political, emotional damage is not worth any of the experience you can gain here -low pay, poor benefits, no remote work offered even when not lab based -you get trained in one assay then run that same assay over and over with no growth -you have to walk on eggshells around volatile employees -punished for suggesting improvements to bring company in line with rest of industry because "we've always done it this way"
