Pros

You can work for a company that makes an app used by millions and see the work you build on ads which is super surreal. - PTO if you can take it

Cons

Product and Eng leaders don't really understand the customer or feature sets. The outlook of the company is mostly based on the huge marketing spend the company does. - Lots of legacy tech debt - Lack of technical rigor from leadership has lead to lots of code rot - Doesn't follow modern coding conventions, custom code and processes, huge coupling that prevents modernizing code - Product is pure chaos - Constant reorgs every 9-12 months along with high turnover across Eng and Product - Professional Development is Non Existant its all about shipping something higher ups want. Good luck if you have an idea getting product on board to build it. - Company talks about values and feedback, but management isn't held accountable and doesn't listen to feedback - This is a good old boys and friends and family company. The leadership is essentially a number of people who are friends/family and have worked together for years and have cashed out from being bought and costing. - There is no real room to evolve the companies culture given the same people have lead it for so long.

Pros

I liked working there but was hired frantically and then the entire team (including me) was laid off within 3 months.

Cons

bad timing to be hired there, not sure what things would have been like if I hadn't got laid off. They promised everyone on our team we would be moved to other teams instead of laid off but then they just ended up laying people off

Pros

Before being acquired by Rocket, Truebill was a great place to work. Once the company was sold and rebranded as Rocket Money, everything went downhill. Zero opportunity to advance unless you are already a high-level person in the company

Cons

Zero opportunities for advancement, I was pigeon-holed into a role that I had out grown. Despite taking development courses on my own time, and asking to sit in on meetings for the department I wanted to work in, I was not given any opportunity to demonstrate increased value to the company. Since transferring to another department wasn't in the cards, I asked for a raise for the first time in over 2 years and was told "I should be happy, I'm being paid enough"! Very disrespectful and discouraging for an early stage employee who helped the company reach the point it did before being sold.
