Pros

One of the positive aspects of working at ScionHealth, as noted by some employees, is the opportunity to work alongside skilled and supportive coworkers. The team environment can be a strong point, providing a sense of camaraderie and collaboration. Many find that their colleagues are committed, understanding, and create a more enjoyable day-to-day work atmosphere. This support among peers helps balance out some of the challenges associated with the broader organizational structure and management practices.

Cons

Prospective employees should approach ScionHealth with caution. Recent feedback highlights significant concerns, including profit-focused senior leadership, limited benefits, low pay, high turnover, and what some describe as unethical HR practices. The outsourcing of recruitment and support operations reflects a shift that employees feel undermines both the mission and workforce well-being. Many have reported a disconnect between the company’s stated values and its day-to-day practices. Those considering joining may benefit from reviewing recent experiences shared by current and former staff.

Pros

... getting paid? Options for remote.

Cons

Leadership? There's an ooccasional"all staff"remote meeting where the C-suite talks for an hour, but really says nothing. Frequent... AND I MEAN FREQUENT, instant reductions in force (obviously from their poor planning). Zero direction. Zero leadership. This is a venture capital startup whose goal is to turn a profit for investors. There is zero communication, zero goals, zero support. We're forced to try to do things on our own, though we're overseen by Scion Corporate. They pay for nothing, so while other hospitals are staffing appropriately, and able get software to meet their needs... we're literally doing things on Microsoft Excel because they don't want to pay for the software to complete tasks... they still pay though, in the form of extra staff and hours to complete the same tasks that we could do had we needed software.... so, it's an exercise in futility knowing they're hindering themselves. Sure, you save 100k on the software. Now you pay 250k in staff and benefits for us to do the same thing, AND you lose productivity that could be used elsewhere. Turnover is insane. Just waiting for this venture capital experiment to crash.

Layoffs on zoom calls

Pros

Used to be a stable company

Cons

Scion recently laid off 40 corporate people on a zoom call. Employees who had 30 years of service were included. No one sat down face to face with these employees - not their manager or anyone - to explain the next steps or express any kind of gratitude for past service. Shameful. They were given 30 minutes to get out of the building. No boxes were offered to help carry out personal belongings. No one from HR checked on employees in the office to see if they were ok. In some instances employees were laid off without their manager being made aware. Truly reflective of the cold calculating Scion leadership. The company is bleeding money and apparently also any sense of humanity or care for employees.
