Pros

Can work from home. Work in your own time.

Cons

Even if you are fast at transcribing you won't make more than $2.50 per hour. A 6 minute file pays around 60c, but will take you at least 15 minutes to transcribe properly. You can earn 3 times as much doing any cleaning or unqualified work

Pros

Work when I want Get paid daily I don't have to deal with customers or phones I can work anywhere as long as I have internet and a computer There has been a lot of work lately (Thank you for Scribie) You get a $5 bonus at the end of the month for every 30 files you complete that month

Cons

The pay sucks. You have to do a good 50 transcripts per day just to make $25. Once you are promoted to a Proofreader the pay increases per file but it is next to impossible to remain in that position. They give proofreaders and QCs the better pay when the transcriptionist and reviewers do most of the work and get paid a measley $0.50 per file. Its really not fair. The bonus used to be $10 and the pay for each transcript was $1. Why they lowered it, who knows. Most of the audio files are hard to hear and understand due to heavy accents and audio quality.
