I can’t believe I had to actually say this TWICE to multiple people in the last hour before walking out.
“Am I being discriminated against? Is this because I’m a woman? Because I’m Hispanic? Because I’m young? Because I don’t have a PhD? Because I have a disability?”
And
“If I was a PhD researcher, and I knew about the issues I found in just a few months of being here, I wouldn’t touch this product with a 10 ft pole and tell all my science buddies to not trust it either.”
I walked out because Product Development refused to fix their issues with their product on the market, or roll out an update to fix it, because that “would require work.” And addressing the issues higher up resulted in verbal abuse and physical intimidation until I decided enough was enough. Research and Apps labs were perfectly fine. So helpful and kind. I was told following basic laboratory practices and safety compliance was too high standard for seer.
I was hired on told that the lab manager position was a new role. WRONG, the previous lab manager stepped down because of the same issues that made me walk out.
Instead of hearing me complain about my personal experience, if you are considering apply, I encourage you to spend 2 minutes watching “Dennis Orders Bubble Tea” on YouTube to see a clip from it’s always sunny in Philadelphia. Even this small clip is the most accurate representation of how messy and ridiculous this company is for absolutely no reason and how stressful it is for someone. It’s not that hard to run a business. They claim it’s because it’s a start up, but I’ve worked at “creating new emails weekly to use software trials” start-ups at the beginning of their journey and they had their company more put together and quickly got acquired by one of the industry giants.
