Pros

Brilliant mission with a founder who clearly wants to make the world a better place, not just get rich Very structured progression framework, much more so than any other early stage business I’ve worked at Pays well, has (genuinely) unlimited holiday with a minimum holiday you have to take (I think 25 days or you get in trouble), free therapy, remote first business so can work from anywhere in the world whenever you’d like Anna (ops director) is SO good

Cons

Product is currently mid-pivot for the third or fourth time since the company was founded. It’s positive that management recognise when it’s needed and take action (instead of just being stuck on a path until they run out of money), but I found it hard to understand what the aim is / where they want to go / how they’ll get there. Did two rounds of redundancies whilst I was there and also had quite a few people leave as well

Pros

Spill is an interesting and fun place to work overall. The people are lovely, the working environment is very flexible and you get the opportunity to take part in a range of interesting and fast-paced work. Everyone also really believes in the mission of getting therapy into the hands of many, and it's clear that the therapy product has done a lot of good for thousands of Spill clients.

Cons

The major downside of Spill is that it is poorly run. Senior management make reckless decisions overnight, and there is a huge lack of transparency ( in some cases dishonesty) around strategy and financial status. The teams are also incredibly siloed - for anyone outside of Product/Engineering, it is difficult to voice opinions, which has led to many one-sided, poorly made decisions. There is also a huge focus on trialling new 'experiments' which are not properly thought through, at the expense of the current product and clients. Commercial/customer facing teams are also very much not a priority, which seems like a huge oversight for a company trying to increase revenue.
