Pros

Pay was okay but could be better.

Cons

Recruiters are unprofessional (conducting interview in public area with loud background noise) and no consideration of candidate's time. Micromanagement from leadership

Pros

All of the managers here are awesome to work with. Nice having that buffer between you and upper management

Cons

Upper leadership is mostly concerned about looking good to investors. The new head of sales was hired in the summer of 2022 and the culture has been downhill since. Their goal was to look good with massive growth, so they over hired in sales (even tho there was much pushback). Rather than admitting they made a mistake with over hiring, they put the new hires on aggressive Performance Plans to force them out. Now they can tell investors “spot ai didn’t have to make any layoffs during these hard economic times”. These performance plans were unfair (the tenured reps weren’t held to the same standards as the new reps). Most of the performance metrics at Spot AI are around Outbound/Cold Calling efforts. The company would rather pump out exaggerated numbers indicating a productive quarter, than caring for the well-being of the employees. They would rather you spend time cold calling than actually doing things that can help your current pipeline. Pay has significantly gotten worse, and relationships with key customers has gotten much worse over the last 8 months. Every change in the last 8 months has been to the sales reps’ disadvantage. Every time a sales rep crushes it and wins a big commission check, they’ll change the comp structure so it is much harder to get big paychecks in the future

Pros

Spot AI's customer success team shines, consistently delivering outstanding service that has resulted in killer Net Promoter Scores (NPS). Their dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction is commendable, fostering strong and lasting client relationships. Equally impressive are the sales leaders at the company, who, with the exception of Javier, display remarkable commitment to their teams' success as well as Spot's overall growth. The sales engineers and the sales team exemplify professionalism, not only as colleagues but as great friends, collaborating seamlessly to drive the company forward and create a positive and cohesive work environment.

Cons

Working at Spot AI comes with a significant set of cons. Firstly, the inexperienced leadership at the company can be a major drawback, as their lack of industry knowledge often translates into poor decision-making and limited guidance for employees. The workplace culture is often described as toxic, with reports of discrimination against women, making it an uncomfortable environment for female employees. Moreover, the leadership's reluctance to listen to feedback exacerbates these issues, hindering any potential for improvement. Furthermore, there have been allegations of manipulating numbers to create a misleadingly positive image of the company. Spot AI's preference for hiring friends over experienced professionals can lead to a lack of competence in crucial roles. Additionally, the absence of clear KPIs and a vague understanding of success outside of sales positions can result in frustration and confusion for employees in other roles. The head of RevOps at Spot AI seems to be a textbook example of misplacement. With a background in law but without passing the bar, his confidence in his degree often overshadows his actual capabilities. Many employees believe that his years at Google were primarily spent in subordinate roles, indicating a lack of substantial experience in operational leadership. Unfortunately, his close relationship with the company's founders seems to be the primary reason for his position, as he struggles to gain the respect or admiration of his team. This situation has left his team and the company as a whole in a state of stagnation, suffering from a lack of effective leadership and direction. Furthermore, his failure to grasp the fundamental roles of the individuals within the RevOps team and his inability to provide effective leadership have proven to be exceptionally exhausting for both his subordinates and the company as a whole.
