This is a DEAD-END call center job. We were lied to at the beginning of training, we were told this job wouldn’t be call center based, apparently it is. If you have no aspirations of getting anywhere in a career, then this place might be the right for you.
You’ll get nowhere here, no room for growth, you’ll be held back by your manager if you have one mark on your performance review and you’ll be discouraged to seek opportunities outside of claims. You’ll always be reminded about how you’re not fit to seek career growth because of the mark on your performance/metrics. The only opportunity there is claims management which almost no one wants to do. All of the coveted jobs are outside of claims which people highly want.
Pay- subpar, mediocre pay compared to other insurance companies, other companies pay more for this role, minimal raises each year
Training - it is very long. About 5 months of training, they don’t train you well enough to handle situations once you’re on the floor, you’re on your own so you’re left guessing what to do. It doesn’t leave you feeling very confident. They spent most of the time training you on the concepts and very little time training you hands on with claims.
Management - the most rude, condescending managers you’ll ever have. They have no sense of people skills, not competent enough to do their jobs. They only care about metrics and numbers, won’t look out to develop you and are out headhunting, waiting for you mess up to point your mistake out and chide and reprimand you. They’ll always constantly remind you of your past failures and metrics and make you feel like you’re insufficient. You cannot suggest feedback or you’ll be seen as a bad employee. Some of these managers have no clue how to be a leader and a good manager, they seem like they don’t know about claims really when you ask them for help or have questions. It is a toxic work environment.
Metrics - you’ll be constantly monitored while on the phones, your screen will be monitored and you’ll always feel them breathing down your back, seriously calm down with the metrics, not everything needs to be put on a report. The metrics here are unreasonable to meet as they will LOAD you up with claims and give you so much that you’ll never be able to catch up. They don’t load balance claims and will keep loading you up with more work.
PTO - You have to request time off a year ahead and even then, you won’t be guaranteed the days you want. Based on a bid system which is ridiculous! But you’ll always see managers take days off whenever they want. That is unfair in itself as employees can’t even take the days off they want. No work life balance.
This job will wear you out mentally and stress you out so much. If you value your mental health and personal well-being, please do not work here. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
