Pros

coworkers are wonderful- officemates become friends, offices are well decorated, coffee is available

Cons

Leadership team is clique-y, owner/founder is quick to terminate you if you aren't drinking the "kool-aide", poor communication skills, lack of empathy towards clinicians and clients, supervision is "provided" to employees but is inconsistent (and constantly changing without explanation), Leadership offers little support to its clinicians and creates an atmosphere that sparks fear to ask questions. HR department is untrained and basically just a middleman for owner/founder. Company seems to care more about profit and growth than providing ethical care to clients. If you try to leave, they attack you legally and your license. Overall, a very disappointing work experience.

As the Founder and Owner, we're always open to working with therapists who adhere to ethical codes. We truly value offering a safe space for all our therapists and in the event anyone did not feel safe, outside mediation or leadership insight would be offered. We consult with the leading experts and consultants when any therapist commits an ethical violation. We're fortunate to have several outside consultants and counseling attorneys who help us adhere to all regulations. Luckily, there are very clear state board of ethics and the American Counseling Association code of conduct that Sun Point allows follows. My door is open to process any reported bullying or difficult conversations. Our top priority is cultivating safety and direct conversations and aways providing the highest quality counseling care to our clients. Our gatekeeping abilities is what sets the level of counseling care above other agencies in the area. We do not tolerate unethical and illegal behavior. And we're dedicated to creating a safe environment for our team and our clients. My door is always open to discuss ethical and legal requirements for being a therapist.

Smoke and Mirrors

Pros

Built an amazing community or fellow clinicians that supported one another both professionally and personally. Most of which have left or been terminated at this point.

Cons

I titled this review smoke and mirrors because the level of mixed messages and maneuvering that leadership and specifically the owner/ director did created such a level of confusion and fear that you don’t feel safe. There was a consistent feeling of not being able to ask questions and if you did you were made to feel both foolish and like a threat. Drink the “Kool-aid”or else. Communication with HR would only result in lack of answers from HR and retaliation from the owner/ director from the information that was shared and then used as a weapon. When pursing transitioning out of the practice in an ethical way, I was met with immediate termination and legal language being thrown as a scare tactic. My clients were left feeling confused and in the midst of trying to communicate and pursue continuity of care, legal action was taken by the owner/ director. I was made to feel afraid to even communicate with my clients in offering continuity of care. The feeling of money being the and priority and clients become property was very real. Upon retaining my own legal counsel I was informed of the consistent baseless allegations that were being thrown without any form or proof although the owner/ director had been expressing otherwise. I left Sun Point with a desire to not burn bridges and transition in a professional way and ended up feeling totally beaten down and bullied by the owner/ director. Since my leaving there have been 11 other clinicians who have left or been terminated in unfortunate ways. The impact this has on clients as well as the clinicians is unfortunate and avoidable.

Pros

Amazing coworkers who truly care about their clinical work with clients. Location in Lancaster city is wonderful.

Cons

SPW could have been great, but quickly went south as major policy changes took place over time. When I left, those seeking supervision or training opportunities were required to sign a very pricey contract. The leadership team seems to be very cliquey and quick to push clinicians out who disagree. Lack of transparency made it difficult to trust leadership. When I was there, the admin/intake team was internationally outsourced, which, in my view, contributed to SPW's overall poor communication and disorganization. Off-boarding at SPW was an unfortunate mess.

Sun Point Wellness is proud to provide the highest quality of supervision and training in central Pennsylvania. Our leadership team is always available for open, transparent conversations weekly during our common hour, Wednesdays @ 2pm. We welcome diverse opinions and are open to bring in mediation if conflict arise. We do recognize that gatekeeping in the counseling field is required to protect our clients. Therefore, there are times that employees are put on improvement plans in order to adhere to all state board counseling regulations. This is out of ethical care for our clients. Our supervision and certificate offerings set Sun Point apart from all other counseling agencies in the area. We offer access to over 20 hours of live observation, along with provide live supervision in our state of the art training center. Our contractual agreement for supervision leads our therapists to have high therapeutic outcomes. We developed an outcomes based HIPAA compliant app to allow our therapists to track their outcomes. Unfortunately this reviewer must be confused as we have never outsourced any operation. All of our employees are employed in house at Sun Point Wellness Center. Our Executive Director of Operations currently resides in Mexico but she is not outsourced. Leadership is happy to meet anytime with any employee who has concerns and wants more clarity about leadership structure. At Sun Point, we care greatly about supporting our therapists and clients and any member of our leadership team is happy to have a 1:1 conversation, along with our HR Director to address any concerns.
