Pros

- Work-life balance - Some good client names - Depending on team, there is some autonomy in your work - Depending on team, some international travel

Cons

- Company habitually lies about who they are and what they do, they'll tell you that you are a management consultant when in actual fact you'll spend your day on LinkedIn finding people and calling them, which is recruitment (hence why they recruit recruiters). - No training or development at all - very limited career trajectory - Job titles galore but no difference between the vast majority - everyone has manager in their title but no management responsiblity - Stuffy environment with clear favourites in the office, "perception" counts more than deliverables.

People leave managers, not jobs

Pros

Overall, we do some quality work for our clients, even though the job has very little to do with consulting.

Cons

The company has grown a lot in the past 4 years and that growth has given team members huge scope for development... However, as it happens in such cases, some people were given management responsibilities without any preparation (or predispositions). We advertise ourselves as not KPI driven, however the management will bring your KPIs up whenever it is convenient for them. The scope of our roles is very unclear and the onboarding program in our company is poor and confusing. People who have been in the company for more than 2 years, tend to think that everyone who joins 'should know that' and you are not supposed to ask questions. Those who ask questions are not 'senior enough' or are not 'client-ready'. The management style would be best described as focused on negative feedback, because, as they don't know what to expect of you, they don't really know when you do well. Plus, if you are seen with the wrong crowd, your quarterly rankings will suffer. It is all about 'perception' and 'senior management exposure'.

Lots to consider

Pros

- You'll likely work with good people. There are a lot of people at TI who are passionate about what they do, who are bright and interesting, who are genuinely caring and helpful, and who are fun to be around. - Recruitment companies stereotypically have a cut-throat culture and a destructive, 'boiler-room' environment. TI is not like this at all. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. - Pretty good base salaries (for people who make sure they're not getting ripped off, see cons). - Good work/life balance. - Senior management are nice on the whole. - SOME people have OCCASIONAL opportunities to do work that isn't recruitment. - Some good clients. Long term relationships. - International travel for around half the staff.

Cons

- The company is primarily a recruitment company. The work will be 80% - 100% recruitment, depending on team (more likely to be 100% than 80%). There are advantages to working at TI over a traditional recruitment company (see pros), but don't join TI expecting to do consulting work. - TI can pay generously. TI can also pay in an exploitative way if they believe the person will take it. Do not settle for very low salaries. Ask what the average pay is for each role if considering joining. There are so many ranks that they should be able to tell you accurately. - Tendency to backtrack on promises, e.g. mis-selling the nature of the company and potential earnings, and misleading people about promotions or other opportunities. If it sounds untrue, it's probably untrue. - The culture can be odd, particularly the emphasis on 'seniority'. E.g. the structure is very hierarchical, some people imply 'senior' staff should be treated with more respect than other staff, and new members of staff are encouraged to do personal errands for 'senior' staff. 'Seniority' appears to be based almost entirely on length of service and not on merit. - Very limited scope for career development (beyond gaining 'seniority'). - Limited transparency. Unclear and inconsistent reasoning for promotions. Random things are kept secret for no reason.
